Today Richmond had a car wash. Even though we didn’t wash that many cars and we were $25 shy of our goal of $150, we all still had fun. We had Rainbow Girls and pledges present. We even had a surprise appearance from Mom and Dad Grist, bringing with them the Grand mascot Freedom. Each girl worked really hard to hold up signs and even putting girls on our shoulders to reach the windshields. I hope to do more fun fundraisers like this is the future.

After the car wash a few of the girls went to the fire station. It was really cool to see the big firetrucks and to draw all over the white board. We each got our own little hats, got a chance to sit in the firetrucks, and take some pretty awesome pictures together.

Richmond Assembly #10

This summer’s Virginia Grand Assembly was the first Grand Assembly I have ever been to. It was definitely a new experience to watch the Grand Officers perform the ritual work properly and gives me something to work towards. The now past Grand Worthy advisor, Brigitte Wendel, was my first Grand Worthy Advisor and did a great job interacting with all the girls at Grand Assembly. It was sad to see her leave her station in the East and even more so Majority out of Rainbow. I liked Brigitte’s theme and how it fit with everything we did during Grand Assembly. The Grand Officers opening dance, to “One World”, was a great way to incorporate the international theme into the sessions. I really enjoyed all the activities Brigitte had planned at Grand Assembly and I was happy to participate and meet Girls from all over the State. The two parts of Grand Assembly I liked the most were, the Grand Banquet because, during the banquet the awards we had worked for all year were announced. My second favorite part was the Majority Service because it was very touching and beautiful. Overall, Grand Assembly was a great experience and I hope I get to go next year.

Dalanie -Manassas Assembly #13

Hampton Assembly had the greatest time at Paradise Ocean Club on Friday! We started our day off at the pool. We all took turns going down the waterslide and off the diving board. It’s always awesome when all the girls have fun together and hang out. It truly feels like family. After lunch we went down to the beach and splashed around in the ocean. Despite being scared of sharks and making jokes the whole time that the furthest one out was shark bait, I swam out to the orange buoy…super far out and faced my fear of swimming out in the ocean where I couldn’t come close to touching the bottom. After that we all drove down to DQ and got ice cream. It was an increadable way to spend my Friday and I am so glad I went!

Hampton Assembly #2

On August 1st, 2015, Smithfield had their Installation of Officers. The Worthy Advisor elected was Lauren. Her mascot, the peacock, was presented to her by the Worthy Associate Advisor, Emily. Lauren named her mascot Pete. There was a dinner and a dance to follow. Two of the Richmond girls “stole” Lauren’s mascot with the help of the Grand Worthy Advisor, Rachel Cochrane. They schemed up a plan for Lauren to get Pete back; she had to let them smear a cupcake in her face to collect $5.00 from the visiting members for her charity. The dance lasted until 9:30 pm. Everyone went home after a night that was filled with laughter and smiles.
