Tidewater DeMolay Installation

Posted in Blog on March 29th, 2016 by Webmaster

The Tidewater Installation for the DeMolay on March 5, 2016 was fun. Three of us from Norfolk Assembly LT were in attendance. Gabe was installed as Master Counselor and Abbey from Smithfield Assembly became Chapter Sweetheart. After the Installation there was a dance. They played songs like “Cupid Shuffle”, “Biker Shuffle”, and “Cotton-Eyed Joe”. Everyone danced to these and looked like they were having fun. At the very end of the night the DJ played “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri. I enjoyed this Installation and Dance a lot and I hope I can go to more.

Norfolk Invites You to Dine

Posted in Blog on March 23rd, 2016 by Webmaster

On Tuesday March 1, 2016, the Norfolk Rainbow Girls attended the South Norfolk Masonic Lodge dinner. Dad John Wallace Springer (Dad Chum) made a delicious chicken stew and cornbread and we had ice cream and brownies for dessert. Before we had dessert, there was a flag ceremony. It was presented by Portsmouth Commandery No 5.

We go to our Lodge every month to support our Masonic District and enjoy the food that they make and the fellowship that comes with eating with our sponsoring body. Join us on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 pm.

On November 8th we went to the Norfolk Temple for a work meeting with the Norfolk Chapter DeMolay boys. We planned our upcoming holiday dance, which will be a combined effort between Norfolk Assembly and Norfolk DeMolay. After the meeting, we helped the boys with their service project, Adopt-a-Street, where we cleaned the streets around the Temple all the way to the hospital. It was a fun work meeting and service project day with our DeMolay brothers!

Rainbow Girls Help Protect Children

Posted in Blog on October 28th, 2015 by Webmaster

Child IDOn August 23, 2015, my Rainbow Sisters and I volunteered to help out with Child ID at the Tides game. We had to get there at 4:00 pm to help set up the station and the computers. When we finished setting up all the equipment, we got to see the Tides players warm up. At around 4:30 pm, kids and parents started to show up. The Mother Advisor of our Assembly, Christi Reed, went up to them and asked if they needed a Child ID.

Families came up to the Child ID center and they had to fill out a form about their child’s information, like who their parent/guardians are, when they were born, what the look like, and more. In order to make the Child ID, first we have to put a CD into the computer. Next, we take the information from the sheet and type it into the computer. Then, we take pictures of the child from the front, back, right, and left side view. After that, we ask some questions about them to get a recording of their voices. Lastly, we have to burn the information onto the CD and give it to the family.

Afterwards, we got to eat dinner and watch the rest of the Tides game. In conclusion, helping out with Child ID was a fantastic experience and I hope to do it again soon.
