Fairfax Installation July 19, 2018

Fairfax Assembly #3 held its installation of officers on July 19, 2018 at 7:30 pm at Henry Lodge.  It was really nice because one year earlier only one officer was installed and this time there were five.  The ceremony was quick and they handed out several awards.  Kensley, the new GWA, was there and they presented her with gifts.  Mom J spoke about Supreme Assembly coming soon.  Manassas Assembly #13 had a lot of its members there including:  Katie, Dalanie, me, Vanessa, Sami, Akshita, Joella, Allison, Eliza, and Gigi.  Fairfax Assembly is growing fast and I can’t wait to see how many members there are next year!

Grand Assembly

On the weekend of June 29 to July 1st, Virginia had its 25th annual Grand Assembly at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel. The girls who attended are myself, Katie, Sami, Gigi, Vanessa, Kate, Dalanie, Zoey, Isabella, Joella, Batu, Balu, Alyssa, Allison, Eliza, and Emma. I rode with Mom Jean, Zoey, Balu, and Batu. We left on Thursday, as we wanted to help with setting the assembly room beforehand, and all of us were either grand flag bearers or grand representatives, and we had practices the next day.

The sessions were long, and I was really shocked at how long they were. They were interesting, but at some points I wanted to go to sleep (mostly the night sessions) because I was tired. The ritualistic initiation was beautiful, and I thought all the girls that were participating did a fabulous job.

Manassas Assembly came home with a lot of awards. For the awards, the Assembly won Assembly of the year and the traveling gavel, which was amazing. We also had a lot of competition winners, Ella, Alyssa, won first place in the 11-14 competition, Kate won first in the 14-16 competitions, Katie won 2nd, and Vanessa won 3rd. In the Rose lecture, Katie won 2nd, and for the dad talk, Dalanie won 1st, I won 2nd, and Katie won 3rd. All the winners for the adult competitions were in our Assembly, including Mom Robin, Mom Priscilla, Mom Erin, Mom Jean, Dad Tom, Dad Clancy, and many more adults. Our assembly was the only one to participate in the baby dedication, Katie and Sami winning first place, Gigi and Dalanie winning 2nd. For the rodeo, our team, consisting of Katie, Sami, Vanessa, and Kate won 2nd. Jasmyn, Alyssa, Batu, M’Balu, Maribel, Isabella, Sami, Joella, Ella, Zoey, Gigi, Katie, Vanessa, and Dalanie all won the traveling award, and I won the Amanda Award, which was cool. I remember stumbling on my acceptance speech and trying to figure out what to say on the spot, and somewhat failing at it.

We also got a lot of grand appointments and came back with a lot of grand officers. Alyssa is now a grand flag bearer, Joella, Isabella, Maribel, Balu, Sami, Batu, and Allison are all grand representatives for the coming year. For grand officers, Vanessa, Kate, Dalanie, and Katie all got grand bow stations, Zoey got Grand Confidential Observer, and Gigi got Grand Associate Worthy Advisor! I am so proud of the assembly and what we have achieved! Assembly of the year is a huge deal!

After grand assembly, a bunch of us helped some of the adults put the assembly room stuff back in the storage. It was hot outside, and that slowed us down a little, but we got it all done. Afterwards, Mom Jean, Zoey, Balu, Batu and I all hopped back in the car, stopped for lunch at Dairy Queen, and then head back home. When I got home, I directly went to bed, because I was tired. Overall, Grand Assembly was fun, and I can’t wait to go back next year!

Manassas Assembly #13

Massachusetts Grand Assembly started Friday with introductions, after a Formal opening. Saturday morning had a memorial service by the Grand Officers that was ended by bagpipes. After that, was the elections for the new Grand Officers, then we retired for lunch.

 The afternoon session was laid back, and girls went into short skirts and those in the grand rep parade wore shorts. This reminded me of our grand banquet, but calmer and with no food. I was able to be a part of the parade, and though we didn’t win, I still had lots of fun.

Massachusetts was enjoyable, and I had fun just watching their Grand Assembly.

A Summary of Our Term

This term we have worked so hard and accomplished many, many things. We had an average of 25 people attend our meetings.  We celebrated ­­­­­­­6 honor nights where we recognized supporters of Rainbow.  We held 2 jean night fundraisers in which we raised $190 for the Scholarship Fund and our charities. We initiated 3 new members and have a new affiliated member.  We lost 1 member to majority and 3 that moved out of the area :(. 

We visited every assembly in Virginia at least once….whether it was a meeting, installation or Grand Visitation!  And we attended the Grand Assemblies of at least 5 other jurisdictions!  We visited the residents of MAHOVA  2 different times.

We attended the lodge sponsored super bowl party, St. Patty’s party and Easter party.  We prepared meals for both the lodge and Royal Arch chapter 8 times.  We attended the Amaranth, Eastern Star and DeMolay installations at our lodge. 

We had a large group attend Rainbow Sunday followed by a cookout and kick ball game. 

We held 2 adopt-a-spot events, a lodge clean up and made a meal for the local fire station.  We had many members support the Supreme 2018 star program by purchasing stars that will be displayed at Supreme Assembly.

We had 2 members and 3 adult supporters that received the Grand Cross of Color.

We wrote over 100 articles that were submitted to the state website, a goal I knew we could meet 😊.

We held 3 bake sales that made $315 for our charities.  We held a coin collection competition (which is still underway) but so far has brought in $275 for our charities.  Between the doughnut sale, mystery dinner and silent auction we made almost $2900.00!

We got the traveling gavel all 3 times! 

We have a Grand Flag Bearer, 7 Grand Representatives and 6 Grand Officers ~~ we will be busy again this year!

We had 22 people compete in ritual competitions and we brought home 19 awards! But the award that I am most proud of is ASSEMBLY OF THE YEAR!  I worked hard to achieve it by planning so many activities that would help us get the needed points, however it was achieved because we all worked together.  I am proud of our assembly’s accomplishments and you all should be too.   I cannot stress enough to our upcoming line officers – the path ahead of you will not always be an easy one.  It is not an easy task to lead and to be able to achieve all that we have.  It will take A LOT of your time but in the end you will find it to be worth it, as you will discover a lot of people are counting on you.  I challenge you to keep Manassas on top!  Thank you all for letting me serve as your Worthy Advisor!
