On Monday, July 30th, Supreme Assembly began in the Hampton Coliseum. Before the start of session, Hampton and Manassas girls walked around welcoming Rainbow girls to Hampton and exchanging swap gifts. The Supreme Officers preformed their walk-in for the first time and everyone in the audience clapped along, sparking a trend for the rest of the time we spent there. The opening, although similar, was not the traditional opening our Rainbow meetings have. It focused more on the higher level of Rainbow and was very interesting to hear. The Supreme Officers talked with such grace and beauty. It was an amazing experience to watch. Seeing girls do such an awesome job reciting ritual was inspiring and it made me (along with everyone else I’m sure) wish they were Supreme Officers too! The Supreme choir did a lovely job singing and filled the room with harmony. There were an overwhelming amount of PGWAs as well as GWAs who introduced themselves this day and it was an honor to have so many present. Flag bearers gave tributes and presented our sponsoring bodies’ flags and jurisdiction flags with confidence. There were introductions and speeches from many people and the session was called to rest. Afterward, Virginia Rainbow and honored dignitaries gathered in the convention center to enjoy a reception of appetizers and Good Company.

On Saturday June 30th all active rainbow members of Hampton Assembly #2 attended the Grand Assembly’s banquet. We all sat together at a table apart from the grand officers, who sat at the head table. We were given our meals then Olivia began giving out her awards. Reagan, Sara, Kensley, and Lauren got the Sailer’s award. Then they began to announce competition winners. Lauren got first place for WA altar initiation and Kensley got second. Sara got first place for Rose Lecture. Alex got second and Reagan got third for the Fidelity competition. Hampton got second for assembly of the year. Also Lauren, Sara, Reagan, and Alex placed third in the rodeo competition. Alex, Reagan, and Thora received grand rep. positions and Lauren got Grand Faith. Sara got Grand Recorder and Grand Page. After the banquet there was a dance and the girls danced the night away.

On Sunday July 22nd, Sara, Kensley, and Lauren attended Manassas Assembly’s Installation of Officers. Their Worthy Advisor elect was Kate B and she gave a beautiful speech on her charity: the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Her theme is Broadway and the Arts and all her officers got headshots for their carry in pieces (including Mom J!). Hampton Assembly helped Gigi take yearbook pictures following the ceremony and then we quickly ate refreshments before getting on the road again. We were so happy to be able to visit the Manassas girls and see them installed into their new positions. We cannot wait to see our northern sisters again at Supreme!

Hampton #2

On July 21st, Hampton Assembly attended Richmond’s installation of officers. Their theme was “Live With Every Color of the Rainbow”. Their mascot is Hootie the Owl & Past Worthy Advisor’s Mascots and their motto is “Dare to love yourself as if you were a rainbow with gold at both ends”.  They chose Virginia Rainbow as their charity and have many events planned for the term. The installation itself went beautifully and although there was no installed Worthy Advisor, Sierra Jackson did a great job leading the installation. We were so happy to see our Richmond Assembly sisters and enjoyed their company afterwards during the reception. On the way home, Kensley and I decided to stop by the movies to see Mama Mia 2. Right before the movie began, our sister Aubrianna and her family showed up. It was a great surprise. Overall, it was a super fun day filled with Rainbow love and laughter.
