Ashburn Assembly First Time of Service

On August 22, the Rainbow Girls of Ashburn Assembly No. 11 had the chance to help the Herndon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star serve dinner for the Commandery at our Lodge in Ashburn. The girls showed up with excitement as to what they would be doing. We all wore our white aprons for the first time. Our jobs were to help set the tables and serve food and drinks to the Commandery Members after the prayer was said. We all took turns carrying plates of food (taco salad) and serving drinks to the members. We cleared the tables and also served dessert (peach cobbler) and coffee.

It was fun to sit and talk to the members and learn about them and their uniforms. We took several pictures and learned a lot about their plumed hats. There were jokes about how many peacocks had to lose feathers to make one proper headgear. Some of our members volunteered to go on a peacock feather run to see how many we could collect. We wanted to see how many peacocks it would take and feathers so proper hats could be made.

The Herndon Chapter Order of the Eastern Star has the kitchen here running as one smooth working machine and we look forward to working with them again in the future. Plus we got to taste the dessert and it was really good.

Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you.

Royal Arch Dinner

Posted in Blog on September 8th, 2013 by Webmaster
Hampton Assembly served dinner for the Royal Arch on Wednesday, September 4th.

We helped the ladies who cooked the dinner, by serving the food to the members of the Royal Arch. Me and six others from Hampton went and even while working, we all still had a lot of fun. The members and ladies were so nice, and I can’t wait to see them again.

Weekend with Eastern Star

Posted in Blog on August 22nd, 2013 by Webmaster

This past weekend was very busy for Richmond Rainbow. We had dinner with Abe where we served the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star. Where we got to know a little bit more about Abraham Lincoln. Then the next day we had an early morning serving breakfast to Star. Where our very own Becca won a pig and Erin won a jewelry box during the auction. Later on that day we all got back together to pass out programs and help with the reception at the Grand Adah’s home chapter. During the initiation we all played cards together and even got to go eat some delicious Chick-fil-a. I loved being able to see the same women and men every day because of the friendships I was able to make. It was a very fun weekend spent with our sponsoring order.

Love for Lucky Cabin No. 2

Posted in Blog on August 16th, 2013 by Webmaster

My first Retreat as a Rainbow Girl was the weekend of August 3rd and 4th, 2013. We had to get up really early to meet at Mom Erin’s house. I am so glad I got to sleep while Mom and Dad got to stay awake and drive me there. Mom Erin drove Darby, my Mom, and me down to Jamestown. Mom Suzanne drove Mallory and Cameron, in a separate car.

It was a long trip, but worth it when we got there. There were so many girls from all over. Yes, I was a little afraid at first because we were all placed in different cabins. Parents were across the grounds in cabins by themselves and we were on the same side as the activity building. I did have a Sister I knew in my cabin from Manassas, Abigail (we play Mind Craft together) the other Sisters were Sarah, Rachal, Christine, Anna, Taylor, and Abbey (a pledge). Cabin 2 was Lucky Cabin 2. We put a sign on our door with our names on it.

I got to sleep on the top bunk bed, which was fun. We made necklaces out of dominos as a craft. We ate lunch under a big pavilion and it was fun to see everyone. When it came time to swim in the pool it started to storm so we had to get out and wait for the storm to pass. We played War in the cabin while it rained really hard outside. When the storm passed we ate dinner. We did get to go in the pool for a short time before our meeting.

We had a meeting after swimming and talked about how people look in person, in pictures, magazines, and movies. We listened to songs about looks. We told everyone one thing we liked about ourselves. We played with musical instruments (there were so many of them). We got to try different ones. It was fun and we made lots of noise. We ate s’mores by the campfire and sang songs.

I did get a little scared before bedtime, but Sarah took me back to the cabin and we played cards before bed. The morning seemed to come early and I’d made it. I gathered all my stuff in one spot to pack up. We had a big breakfast together and took pictures to remember Retreat. It was time to say ‘see you later’ to all my new Rainbow Sisters and hope to see them soon. We had to load up and leave camp.

There was so much packed into a short time, but I will never forget my first Rainbow Retreat and my Sisters who helped me make it through the night safely.

Thanks Lucky Cabin 2!
