Beach Day

Posted in Blog on December 14th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On August 11th, Hampton and Richmond wrapped up our sleepover and headed to the beach for the state wide beach day! The day was beautiful (although I’m sure a lot of us got a little burnt by the sun). Many Assemblies came as well as Tidewater Chapter. We played lots of games. One of them you had to carry a small cup of water from the ocean to a bucket, over your head, and race to see which team could fill it up the fastest. Let’s just say a lot of people ended up with more water on their heads that in their pails. During lunch there were raffles with lots of nice prizes and I won a cute water bottle. Then we had our sandcastle building contest. There were a lot of really cool ones and Smithfield won. In between activities, everyone ran into the ocean and swam together. There were girls hoisting other girls up and doing water acrobatics while other girls just floated in the waves. It was a way everyone could have a good time and come together. This event was one for the books!

Sleepover Fun

Posted in Blog on December 14th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Friday, August 10th, Hampton Assembly #2 held a sleepover in their lodge. Kensley, Lauren, Sara, Alex, Reagan, Audrey and Amelia came from Hampton. Victoria and Lina came from Richmond Assembly for our festivities. We colored pictures, played games, made sandwiches, and baked cookies. The first game we played was the newlywed game, the first round the partners were Alex and Reagan, Lauren and Sara, Audrey and Amelia, Victoria and Lina, last but not least was Mom Kim and Mom Michelle. Reagan and Alex won first place. Our second round the partners were, Sara and Lina, Alex and Victoria, Reagan and Amelia, Lauren and Audrey, last but not least Mom Rosa and Mom Michelle. Alex and Victoria won first place. The next game we played was Sardines which is basically hide and seek, this game was so much fun and I’m so happy we played it with our friends. We baked chocolate chip cookies for lunches the next day and also made ham and turkey and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Everyone laid out their sleeping bags and we all went to bed. Then early in the morning the parents woke up to make the girls breakfast, we had pancakes and lemonade. It was delicious and we thank the parents so much for their help. We then all departed but not for long because we had our beach day right after!

Tour of Fort Monroe

Posted in Blog on September 25th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On August 6th, Hampton Assembly attended a youth function put on by the Knights Templar. They threw a pizza party for the youth groups and there was an amazing turnout! So many people from Job’s Daughters, DeMolay, and Rainbow showed up. There were even multiple people from different assemblies, chapters and bethels. I was absolutely amazed by the support from our Masonic youth groups and it was wonderful to hang out with so many of my friends all together. After lunch we went to the Casemate Museum for a tour. Our large group split up into smaller groups and went together to each stop. The tour guides showed us many interesting artifacts and knew lots of history about Fort Monroe. We even got to go inside the church and meet a woman who had ancestral ties to the building. It was very fun to get together and tour the historical heritage that is right in our backyard!

Masonic District Lodge Picnic July 21, 2018

Manassas Assembly and several other Masonic Organizations were invited to the Masonic District Lodge Picnic on July 21, 2018.  It started with games that needed to be brought in because of the rain.  There were plenty of people who had their faces painted.  Lunch was served around noon and the food was really good.  The Masons had an open meeting where it was fun to watch and the youth groups were recognized.  After the meeting we had cupcakes and then helped to clean up so we could then decorate for the Rainbow Installation the next day.
