Paint Night Success

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Saturday November 10th, all active members of Hampton Assembly #2 had a paint night led by past Grand Worthy Advisor, Lauren. It was a good turn out and there were even some Tidewater DeMolay boys who attended. We were taught how to make two pumpkins and some decorations around it but some people tweaked it or did something different in general. Kensley made the Grinch’s hand and wrote a quote above it. Audrey wrote a quote, Hunter made one of his pumpkins into Shrek, Sara made a cacti and a crown, Lauren made a tie dye background with Virginia in the middle and Hampton Assembly’s girl’s fingerprints in it, and Logan made one of his pumpkins into Pandora’s box. Also, Audrey painted a plate after she finished hers and since Reagan didn’t paint a canvas she painted a plate too.  Some of us struggled a little and others did really well. Past Grand Worthy Advisor Lauren did a wonderful job leading us through the process. Before we started to paint we had a spaghetti dinner with garlic cheese bread and for dessert we had a chocolate cherry dump cake with ice cream. It was all really good. There were struggles, laughs and jokes and everyone had lots of fun.

Sleepover Fun

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Saturday, October 27th after the GV in Ashburn, Reagan,Sara , Kensley, and Lauren went to Manassas Lodge for their sleepover. We were the second people there so we claimed the good spots first…*spoiler alert* we didn’t sleep so there was no need for a spot. We made Christmas and Thanksgiving cards for the troops and MAHOVA residents. We then played sardines and Lauren had the best hiding spot ever because we couldn’t find her so we had to make her come out. She fit herself in a small box under a bag of shoes in the corner of a closet. For food, we ate spaghetti and pizza which was deliciously made by Mom Paula. We all got together and bonded for a little bit while the next activity was being set up, which was the hand scrub. This was my all time favorite. It was made with sugar and dish soap and it smelled so good and left your hands super soft. This is when everyone was winding down and getting tired but we powered through the last activity, which was ornaments that we designed ourselves. The girls went into the lodge to lay down and try to sleep but we just ended up talking until 2 am. The adults played cards until late too, I think only one of us got actual sleep. Then it came morning time when everyone was dreading getting up but Mom Paula changed that, she said who ever was last up and out of the room had to vacuum and everyone packed and ran out. Ella kindly offered to vacuum so none of us had to do it, which was so amazing. We had waffles for breakfast which were very good and I thank all the cooks, cleaners, drivers, and hosts for putting on this sleepover for us to enjoy. I also thank the girls for being so sweet and caring to  everyone and everything and I hope they had an amazing time like me.

Chuck E Cheese

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

Hampton went to Chuck E Cheese

On October 27th, we left from Ashburn and Springfield’s GV and headed to Chuck E Cheese since we had some time until the sleepover started. We entered and were immediately shocked to see how it had changed since we were younger. There are no more tokens, instead they used rechargeable play cards. We decided on the 72 minute play card, which was an amazing deal because for that time, Sara, Kensley, Reagan, and I could play unlimited games! We all shared the card so when one of us picked a game and swiped, we all picked a game nearby and passed the card around. There was skeetball, basketball toss, a cool jackpot game, temple run, and much more. Although the place is for kids, we all really enjoyed ourselves. At a fish spearing game, there was a treasure chest that would open and if you got the jellyfish that swam out you won the jackpot of 100 tickets. We all went to town to get it and Reagan hit it within the first couple of seconds. Before we left we ran all our tickets into the counting machine and ended up with over 1000 tickets. We decided to get cotton candy for the pledges and gave our card, with time left, to a kid we met. It was a fun time for all of us to play arcade games together. Then we went off to the Manassas sleepover!

Coffee at CNU

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Tuesday, October the 23rd, Sara, Lauren, Reagan, Mom Kim, and I went to CNU to surprise Kensley after Smithfield’s pumpkin carving because she couldn’t make it. It was a little chilly when we arrived and we met up with Kensley and headed to the library. We decided to get Starbucks. Lauren and I got milkshakes and Sara and Kensley got flavored coffee. While we were catching up with Kensley we ran into Smithfield’s majority member, Madeline Phipps. We talked for awhile then said our goodbyes because we all had school the next day. It was a fun day of rainbow sisterhood!
