On November 14th, 2021, Quantico-Freedom Assembly held the annual Grand Cross of Color observance during the regular business meeting, and Mom Jean talked about the importance and meaning of the Grand Cross of Color. She also discussed how the Grand Cross is awarded by the Assembly, by initiating 3 new members in one calendar year. After our meeting, we went to IHOP and had dinner together for the observance.

Ashburn/Springfield Grand Visitation- 10/30/2021

Posted in Blog on February 25th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On October 30th, 2021, Ashburn and Springfield Assemblies held the first Grand Visitation of the Grand year! We gathered at the Springfield Lodge, and the Assembly was opened and closed in regular form. There were introductions, and the Grand Officers all wore our dresses for the first time as a group. Afterwards, the Assembly was opened for all guests and both Assemblies participated in a skit about kindness where Kaitlyn had to answer questions about the Cinderella film, which was very fun to watch. I love having the opportunity to attend other Grand Visitations, and I am looking forward to having one with my Assembly soon!

Rainbow Retreat- 10/1-3/2021

Posted in Blog on February 23rd, 2022 by Christi Reed

On October 1st, 2021, Rainbow Girls from all around the state arrived at Camp Overlook for our annual Rainbow Retreat! Retreat really is one of my favorite events of the whole year because of how casual and fun it always is. We were lucky enough to be joined by our new friend Maddie from North Carolina, who is the Grand Representative to Virginia in her state. I even met her mom, who was a Quantico girl in the original Assembly, which was cool to hear about! Friday night started off with a movie, where we watched Cinderella and ate Dad Joe brownies and popcorn. Saturday started off bright and early for breakfast, followed by team assignments. The girls attending were split into 4 teams, called Gus Gus, Jaq, Pumpkin, and Glass Slipper, where they competed in field games, mascot presentations, and participated in presentations by Grand Officers. This year, as Grand Nature, I had the opportunity to give a presentation on the importance of Friendship, which we did by meeting a new friend and writing something about them on a card, which I assembled into a “Rainbow of Friendship” which will be displayed at Grand Assembly 2022! There were also presentations on Courage, Kindness, and the Title-less Leader. After the presentations were done, we had lunch and headed out for field day. Each team competed against the other teams in games of kickball and volleyball. I joined team Gus Gus for the games, and I found out that I am very bad at volleyball! After field day we had dinner, before going up the hill for the best part of Retreat, s’mores! It was a long day, and after a night of rest we woke up for breakfast and the devotional, which was a great way to end a fantastic weekend!
