Murder Mystery Dinner- 3/5/22

Posted in Blog on April 17th, 2022 by Christi Reed

Following the Grand Visitation, the state Murder Mystery Dinner was held on March 5th, 2022 at the Kena Shrine in Manassas. The theme this time was “Once Upon a Murder” featuring a ball held by Prince Charming after Cinderella’s disappearance. I was cast as the step-sister, Griselda, who I had fun portraying, and we spent the night eating dinner and mixing around socially. In a shocking and completely unpredictable turn of events, Snow White, portrayed by our GWA Kaitlyn was ‘killed!’ Oh no! The rest of the evening was spent trying to solve the mystery, with only one person being able to correctly identify the culprit. My friends and I came close to solving the mystery, but we were slightly off. Eliza and I were, however, able to pool enough fake money together to win a prize, which was our true mission from the beginning. Afterwards, I stayed after to help clean up the room and pack all of the many decorations away. Special thanks to Mom Joanne for always putting together such amazing murder mystery parties for us! Events like this would not be possible without her time and attention to detail. I love events like this, and I hope we can have more of them in the future. Plus, the Cinderella theme is making me excited for Grand Assembly!

Manassas and Quantico Grand Visitation- 3/5/22

Posted in Blog on April 17th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On March 5th, 2022 Manassas Assembly and Quantico-Freedom Assembly held our Grand Visitation at Manasseh Lodge at 2 pm. We arrived early to practice our opening, closing, and skit. Lilli and Sam presided as the Worthy Advisors, and Manassas started the GV off by opening, sharing Introductions, and Quantico closed. I was asked to close the Assembly as Chaplain, one of my favorite parts! Following the closed session, the Assembly was opened for presentations, remarks from GWA Kaitlyn and Mom J, and of course the skit! We had a joint skit featuring a fun quartet of mice, with excellent casting and maximum entertainment value courtesy of JoElla. Grand Visitations are so fun, and I’m looking forward to what the rest of this Grand year has in store!

Destiny Court Installation- 1/29/22

Posted in Blog on April 16th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On January 29th, several members from Quantico-Freedom and Manassas Assemblies attended the Installation of Destiny Court, Order of the Amaranth. My mother advisor, Mom Ange, was installed as Royal Matron. I have only been to one other Amaranth event before, so it was interesting to see how different it is from Rainbow. Mom Sherry and Dad Whidden, the Grand Royal Matron and Grand Royal Patron, were also there. Something I think is interesting about Amaranth is that the Grand Royal Matron and Patron are invited to sit in the East with the local presiding Officers. Mom Ange announced the term theme and she that the court will hold an Easter Egging fundraiser. I was asked to put rhinestones on the cape that Mom Ange got to wear, which took a long time, but it looked great once it was finished, and very sparkly in the Assembly room lights! I’m glad I was able to help, and I will definitely be around at more Amaranth events in the future.

Manassas Installation- 1/8/22

Posted in Blog on April 16th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On January 8th, 2022, Manassas Assembly held their Installation of Officers. Samantha M was Installed as Worthy Advisor. Manassas Assembly began with an uncrowning ceremony for the outgoing Worthy Advisor and Officers, which I think is a really cool and unique part of their Installations. Samantha chose Stranger Things as her term theme, and she received an adorable cow as her mascot, which she named “Dusty Bun” alongside a cow printed gavel and sounding block. I helped to Initiate Sam a few years ago, so seeing her become Worthy Advisor made me a little bit sentimental. I’m excited to see how Manassas Assembly grows and changes in the future with their newer membership!
