Smithfield Installation: by Kaitlyn

On August 12, Smithfield had their Installation of officers. Delaney is the new Worthy Advisor. I was honored to be her Installing Chaplain for her Installation. Delaney was crowned by Abby, and her gavel was presented by her parents. Her theme for her term is “Where the Wild Things Are”. Delaney’s motto is “This is all yours. You are the owner of this world.” Her mascot is a wolf that she named Max along with her symbols being crowns, sailboats, and leaves. Her charity for the term is the American Diabetes Association. Nearly 30 million people battle diabetes every day and every 23 seconds someone new is diagnosed. Diabetes causes more deaths a year than breast cancer and AIDS combined. After the Installation, we had some dinner and stayed for a dance. Smithfield’s Installation was beautifully done and I can’t wait to see Delaney throughout her term as Worthy Advisor.

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation: By Victoria

For our first fun event of the Grand Year we went to the Brock Environmental Center of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. We learned about what the Foundation does and how they are working to keep the bay and all the things that live in it safe. After that we went on a walk where we happened to be very lucky to find a baby turtle trying to get to the water. All I have to say is that the turtle was very adorable and we took it to the water where it was more safe. Before lunch they let us use a net to catch fish and everyone was excited to participate. Some people caught blue crabs, jelly fish, and different types of fish. Once we let all the little animals go, we went back to go eat and the food was great. It was a great experience and I’m happy I had the chance to go.

Norfolk Installation and Sleepover: By Victoria

Posted in Blog on August 15th, 2017 by Casey Humphries

Norfolk Assembly’s Installation was amazing and we are so proud of their Assembly and how far they’ve come since they first started. Our Worthy Advisor Brianna and I traveled to visit. Their Worthy Advisor’s theme is ‘Around the World’ and her charity is to help animals that are less fortunate. It was nice to see all the Norfolk girls again and I do hope that Richmond Assembly will do more events with them this year. After the Installation we had lunch and it turns out that they have a tradition in their Assembly that the baby of the line (aka Sister of Faith) has to eat baby food. After lunch some people left but some Rainbow Girls got to stay for the sleepover Norfolk was having. We went to the park, played tag, and just had fun. When we got back to the Temple we had dinner and played ‘Never Have I Ever (Rainbow edition)’. Soon it was time for everyone to go to sleep in preparation for our day at the Brock Environmental Center the next day but it great to spend time with some of my Sisters.

Hampton Assembly’s Installation was great. It was great to see everyone after Grand Assembly all ready to start their terms. Hampton’s new Worthy Advisor is Brittany, and her mascot is Eeyore. Richmond #10 is looking forward to seeing more of Hampton and all their amazing Rainbow Girls, and doing more events with them. Congratulations on your new offices!
