This is one of my 1st memories in Rainbow, something like 10 years ago while I was still a pledge, as a fun event Richmond Rainbow went on a trip to the Beach. It was a really hot sunny day and all the girls were having lots of fun, but I was rather intimidated because everyone already knew each other for years, and I was new.  I remember Amanda Giannini being there for me and talking to me as though I were family. She treated me as an important part of the Assembly and made me feel included. She was already a Majority, but stayed involved in our Assembly on our Advisory Board, coming to our meetings and helping out.

Richmond Assembly #10

As part of Richmond’s first Majority Night on May 22, we were asked to write an article about a majority who inspired us.  A majority member who has made a difference in my life is Nicole McLaughlin. She took over as my pledge mom and taught me about Ritual and encouraged me. Then at my initation she was the Sister of Faith and I was amazed by her Ritual and I knew I wanted to be a Rainbow Girl like her.

A majority member who has made a difference in my life isn’t exactly a “majority member,” although she has been adopted by VAMMA, and that is Pattie McLaughlin. Pattie was the board chairwoman when I became the Mother Advisor of Richmond Assembly and she helped me in so many ways learning how to be a board member. She answered all my Mother Advisor questions and even became a close personal friend. I would have never made it through my first year without her and even now I can go to her with anything inside or outside of Rainbow. I’m so grateful she is in my life.

 

Another Majority that I truly admire is Casey Humphries. When we met she was planning a wedding as well as attending Rainbow meetings and serving as the Recorder for the Assembly and the Advisory board. I remember seeing her walk in on those high heel shoes and seeing the confidence she portrayed. She was so helpful in helping me to get organized and was always there if I had a question or needed anything. Our relationship was mostly professional until the year I got to room with her at Grand Assembly. I really felt like we made a connection on a friend and sister level then. I am so thankful for her wisdom, her encouragement, and her place in my life!

Mom Jackson

My sister Sierra was asked by the Worthy Advisor-elect to be Installing Recorder at Fredericksburg Assembly so Sierra, Mom Jackson, and I went to help. It’s Ashley’s second term as WA and it was a lot of fun. All the girls did a great job. I was excited being introduced for the first time as a Grand Representative. Afterward they had an ice cream sundae bar. It was very yummy. I can’t wait to see what a magical term Ashley has in store!
