Rainbow Retreat

Leela S., active member of Ashburn Assembly of Rainbow for Girls

In late October, Virginia Rainbow had its annual retreat at Camp Overlook in Keezletown. The retreat drew girls from across the state including several of us from the Ashburn Assembly. It was a fun weekend of sisterhood and friendship. There were also lots of great activities for the girls to enjoy. I most enjoyed the paint wars, which had the girls in teams. Each team had to dip the letters for our team name in paint and stamp it on our backs—it was messy but fun! Another activity that I think we all enjoyed was mason jar painting.  I also loved eating s’mores and hanging out around the fireplace and chatting with friends. One of the girls also hosted a haunted trailer tour that was very exciting.

There was also a Wizard of Oz themed baking competition. Each team had to bake and decorate a cake.  We also got to watch the movie Moana with our Rainbow sisters. The best part of the weekend was how kind everyone was to each other. It was a wonderful experience. I know I’m going back next time!

Christmas Luau

Christmas Luau – 12/18/2019

After partying every other day for the past week, I managed to get myself to the final event, the Manassas Christmas Luau.  The room was festively decorated.  Grass skirts and flower lays were everywhere.  There was plenty of food and Dad Bobby was making drinks to order.  Unfortunately, I was too tired to do the limbo dance.  It seemed like everyone had a good time and it was great seeing people from other assemblies there.  I didn’t stay for the 50/50 raffle so I gave my tickets to Joella and headed out to make it an early evening.

Quantico-Freedom Assembly Installation

January 11th, 2020

JoElla

On January 11th, Zoë  got installed as Worthy Advisor at my home assembly, Quantico-Freedom #6. Before her installation, we finally got chartered and became an official assembly. This was a giant leap from last June, when Mom J let us open originally.

The girls who attended were, JoElla, Zoë, Zoey, M’balu, Batu, Lillian, Akshita, Audrey, Kassie, Jazmin, Dionna, and Abby. Zoë’s theme this term is Sleeping Beauty. Her mascots are Phillip the owl, and Eleanor the dragon. Zoë’s charity is ACTS, a Prince William County based charity that helps out the less fortunate with anything they need.

Her colors are pink, blue, green and gold. Her flower is the red rose. After the installation, we all cleaned up the lodge room, then got ready for the sleepover that was held at the lodge later that evening.

The sleepover and installation were both a great time, and I know we are going to achieve a lot this term!

Manassas Christmas Party

Manassas Christmas Party – 12/18/2019

This year I was tasked with planning the Manassas Assembly Christmas party.  It was held following the meeting.  The food included pizza, cake, cookies and drinks.  We started the party with the gift exchange which was very civilized compared to what I witnessed at the BHS ILITE Robotics party.  Then we heard the winners for the ugly sweater contest and most festive dressed contest.  After that we play musical chairs.  Let me just say that I apologize to everyone who may have been injured during this game.  I had no idea it would get so physical!  Several people just sat out from the start since it is a competitive game and they had festive outfits on that restricted movement.  It seemed like everyone had a good time.  Can’t wait until next year!
