Shelton Home

Posted in Blog on July 18th, 2013 by Webmaster

Hampton Assembly visits a local retirement home once a month and plays bingo with the residence. The Shelton Home was pretty cool this month. It looked like there were more people playing bingo than usual. We had said that my green jacket was good luck because the two people I was helping won bingo twice. After bingo we went around and gave them all snacks and fruit punch. We always make a joke not to give them too much punch and snack or they will get a sugar high. Every one of the Rainbow Girls that showed up had a good time and lots of fun.

Smithfield’s Installation

Posted in Blog on July 16th, 2013 by Webmaster

On July 14th, Brigitte, Mom Simmons, and I traveled to Smithfield to their Installation. Abbey is the new Worthy Advisor and her mascot is the snail! Her charity is the Portsmouth Humane Society and her service projects are helping care for the animals at the Portsmouth Humane Society and a food drive for the Humane Society. Abbey’s mottoes are: You’ve got to find yourself first. Everything else will follow and You know who you are, you just have to believe it. It was a fantastic Installation and it was a great day to spend it with my Rainbow sisters!

These past three weeks I was in Germany studying abroad and while I was there I saw many Masonic symbols. I was trying to find a Rainbow assembly while I was there but there are no active assemblies in Germany at this time. While I was there however I saw a Masonic temple which was hundreds of years old. The picture is a sign that was on the temple. I also went to visit the ruins of a Castle where in the stone I saw the etching of the Masonic compass. Seeing all these different Masonic things reminded me that as far as I travel away from Virginia and my Rainbow family, my Masonic family will be with me wherever I go.
