On January 30, 2016, Norfolk Rainbow Girls and the Norfolk DeMolay put together the Norfolk Winter Ball. This was held at the Granby Lodge in Virginia. For admission people either paid $3 or brought three canned food items to help their charity. I thought this was a great idea to have people come to the dance and bring in items to help the Worthy Advisor’s term. They had a great turn out of people ranging from babies and toddlers to adults. It was a great mixture of Rainbow, DeMolay, and Jobs Daughters. Some of Hampton Rainbow and Tidewater DeMolay helped DJ a great selection of music. There was fun dancing, good vibes, and of course, a conga line!!!

Smithfield Assembly #5

On Friday, December 11^th, 2015 the Smithfield Assembly #5 Rainbow Girls participated in Smithfield’s Christmas Evening Farmers Market! All the girls made a type of pastry or another homemade item to sell, such as cupcakes, cookies and even arm-knit scarves. We made over $200 and all the proceeds are going to our current Worthy Advisor’s charity, FACT Camp for Autism. The market was open from 5-9pm and within those 4 hours we met other Rainbow Girls from out of state, some former Smithfield Rainbow Girls, and a Past Grand Worthy Advisor of Virginia! We also passed out flyers and explained to people what Rainbow is about, along with the other Masonic organizations, and how you could join. Every minute was exciting that evening and I was so glad to be able to do it!

On December 12, 2015 the Smithfield Rainbow Girls became very involved with our community. Every year, Smithfield throws a Christmas Parade which has been going on for a while. This year, we got to carry the banner that starts off the parade! It was such an honor to be able to lead the parade with my Rainbow Sisters. We also passed out flyers to girls to share what Rainbow is about. It was such an unforgettable experience being able to be a part of the parade.

Hampton/Smithfield Grand Visitation

This Grand Year our Grand Worthy Advisor, Brigitte, is inspiring us to learn about the lives of our Rainbow Sisters around the world. During our Grand Visitation to the Hampton and Smithfield Assemblies, they took us to the Philippines and Italy. What fun to see our Sisters dressed in historic Roman clothing and to hear them recite the words of ancient philosophers! Then they whisked us away to Southeast Asia to experience a traditional dance of the Philippines. They topped our experience with traditional foods including Alfredo, spaghetti, fried bananas and lumpia. Can’t wait to stamp our Rainbow passports with more international fun!
