Hampton Feeds the Homeless

Posted in Blog on April 13th, 2018 by Webmaster

On March 24th, Hampton Assembly participated in their monthly service event, feeding the homeless. Mom Beth drove Lauren, Amelia, and me to FHCUMC while Kensley and the others stayed at the Vendor Fair. When Mom Beth put the peanut butter and jelly on the bread Lauren, Amelia, and I raced to see who could spread it the fastest. There were snacks in the brown paper bags for the homeless: a fruit, an egg, and two sandwiches. Somewhere in the process of putting the sandwiches in the bags we either ended up having too many or too little. In the end we always ended up having so much fun laughing and talking, today was a very eventful day!

March Madness in Hampton

Posted in Blog on April 12th, 2018 by Webmaster

On March 24th 2018, Hampton Assembly held our March Madness Vendor Fair at Immanuel Baptist Church. We started bright and early helping vendors set up their stations and toward the afternoon some of us broke off to help feed the homeless. During the day, Reagan, Amelia, Kensley, and I talked to people about Rainbow and did crafts and games with the younger kids. Some of us ended up winning raffles but all of us had a fun time hanging out together. Then we went off to Richmond for their dinner fundraiser. It was a productive and exciting day.

On March 11th, Norfolk Assembly initiated Sarah. Our Assembly had three girls protem. Katie did Fidelity and Confidential Observer, Vanessa did Patriotism and I protemmed Service. We are so glad that Sarah finally joined!  I know she has been waiting her whole life and has always wanted to know what was in that pot of gold!  I am so glad that I was able to be there and help on her special day. I can’t wait to be a part of her Rainbow journey as she starts this new adventure!

Haymarket OES Installation

Posted in Blog on April 4th, 2018 by Webmaster

On March 3rd, we arrived at the Haymarket Lodge at about 2pm.  We were running late because we needed to change our clothes and fix our hair from our donut sales that morning since we were bundled up from the cold temperatures and the wind.  We were surprised when we got there because the Lodge had no electricity or heat so we kept our coats on to stay warm.  Despite the cold, no light or electricity the Installation was really nice.  Dad Michael Thornton played the guitar since they couldn’t play the digital piano.  Mary Alice Baird was installed as Worthy Matron for the year and her theme this year is the Rainbow Connection.  She talked about her time as a Rainbow Girl and she had Gigi sing the song The Rainbow Connection as a solo.  Gigi had to sing it without the piano and she did a good job.  We stayed for the reception afterwards and we sold boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts to those in attendance.
