Manassas Visits MAHOVA

Posted in Blog on March 14th, 2018 by Webmaster

On February 10th Manassas Assembly visited the residents of MAHOVA.  We handed out Valentine cards!  We had a great time interacting with the residents ~ so many of them had such great stories to share!

We met the King and Queen of the home, Ed and Paula Swansey and had our picture taken with them.  We also met a lady that is 101 years old, and boy does she look amazing!

I can’t wait to write letters to them and share more stories.  We only had 2 hours to visit, which was not nearly enough time.  Hopefully we can plan another visit soon!

Grand Cross of Color Dinner and Christmas Cards

Posted in Blog on December 13th, 2017 by Webmaster

On November 11, 2017, Manassas Assembly celebrated the people who have earned the Grand Cross of Color degree with a ceremony and Lasagna dinner.  The cake to celebrate was good!  It was followed by us making Christmas cards for the residents at MAHOVA.  Zoey W. organized the event.  She had great decorations and she had the tables arranged in a cross to celebrate the occasion.  We were able to honor:  Gigi, Mom Cherry, Dad Bill, and Mom Jean during the ceremony.  The girls who were there included:  Gigi, Katie, Kate, Delanie, Zoey W., Vanessa, Joella, Sami, Abigail, and me.  Zoey’s little brother Sam was also there.  Adults who were there for the event were:  Mom Priscilla, Dad Tom, Dad Bill, Mom Cherry, Dad Clancy, Mom and Dad Wertman, Mom Paula, Mom Robin (missed the ceremony but was there for cards), Mom Joanne, Mom Ange, and Mom Louisa.

On September 17, 2017, we met at the corner of Godwin and Ashton Ave at the 7-Eleven to clean up the street.  Zoey W. organized the event with Dad Costis and he was able to direct us in how to pick up the trash. He was able to provide us with vests, grabber tools, gloves, and trash bags so we could clean up the street.  Our group was limited in size so this time the girls that helped were:  Gigi, Kate, Zoey, Vanessa, M’Balu, Batu, Jazmyn, and me.  Parents there included:  Dad Tom, Dad Bill, Mom Debra, Mom Paula, Mom Joanne, and Mom Louisa.  We found some interesting things on the side of the street and someone even found a credit card!  We finished in less than an hour and then went back to the Lodge to get something to drink before going home.

Manassas Served Royal Arch Dinner

Posted in Blog on October 30th, 2017 by Webmaster

On September 14, 2017, we held the Royal Arch dinner.  Mom Louisa made the dinner and the girls who worked it were:  Alyssa, Akshita, and me.  We had lasagna, salad, rolls, birthday cake, and apple pie.  The Royal Arch members celebrated Dad Clancy’s birthday and their Installation that evening.  Each girl working the dinner made $20 for their Assembly banks.
