Pennsylvania Grand Assembly July 10, 2021

You would think that watching a Grand Assembly over Zoom would get to be boring, but I assure you the Saturday afternoon session was certainly entertaining.  Pennsylvania Rainbow put on a talent show for everyone to watch and I was so impressed!  One girl sang and she turned out to be better than the soloist for the main session!  The comments requested that she be next year’s soloist.  They had multiple dancers as well and I spent so many years dancing that I was pretty good at judging the talent.  There are so many talented Rainbow sisters in Pennsylvania that I will need to visit in person some day just so some of it rubs off onto me!  I must thank Pennsylvania Rainbow for allowing me to witness all the fun they have at Grand Assembly.

July 9, 2021, Pennsylvania Grand Assembly

Posted in Blog on August 3rd, 2021 by Christi Reed

I was able to attend the opening session of the Pennsylvania Grand Assembly this year through zoom.   Unfortunately, they were not able to accommodate out-of-state guests this year, but I could watch the sessions.  This year it was the “Spread the Sunshine” Session with Steffanie Barth as the GWA for 2020 – 2021.  The symbols for the year were sunflowers, suns, and bees.  The colors were blue, yellow, and white.  There were some interesting things that I saw this session which included in the flag tributes that specifically did a speech for the flag of Tennessee because it is the flag of the state for the Supreme Worthy Advisor.  I also found it interesting that they provide mentor awards for their adult workers to honor all that they do behind the scenes to make Rainbow girls look good.  It was a surprisingly short opening session, but there are two sessions yet to go, and I’m sure I missed some things since I only see the non-closed parts over zoom.  Looking forward to the Saturday sessions!

Manassas Assembly Installation of Officers – 7/18/21

Posted in Blog on July 29th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On July 18th, 2021, Manassas Assembly held their Installation of Officers at 2 pm. Prior to the regular Installation service, there was an uncrowning ceremony for the outgoing Worthy Advisor, Sami, which was an interesting and different addition to the regular Installation program. Eliza was installed as Worthy Advisor, and their term theme is “Survivor”. As soon as I saw the flyer for the Installation, I knew it was going to be great because of how unique the theme is, and because I am a huge fan of the show. Eliza’s mascot is the octopus, which she named Phillip. Following the Installation, there were refreshments and a field day. Overall, it was a beautiful Installation, and I am happy that I was able to visit a sister assembly!

Quantico-Freedom Installation of Officers – 7/17/21

Posted in Blog on July 28th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On July 17th, 2021, Quantico-Freedom Assembly held our Installation of Officers for the new term. We arrived at noon to practice and to clean and organize the lodge before our guests arrived. The Installation started at 4 pm, and I had the honor of being asked to serve as Installing Officer. We decorated the assembly room so that each station represented a different element, and the result was beautiful. Akshita was installed as Worthy Advisor. Our Assembly theme for this term is “Imagine, Innovate, Include” and Akshita’s mascots are the peacock and the flying sky bison, which she named Andromeda and Lefty. Our term colors are purple, blue, green, and gold, and our symbols are constellations, skyscrapers, and bridges. This term we are fundraising in support of the Malala Fund and Young Abilities, and we will be doing Lodge cleanups and volunteering at PWC robotics competitions throughout the term. Following our Installation, we had refreshments downstairs, which included international foods. Akshita first served as Faith when we opened our Assembly two years ago, and it really is a reminder to all of us of how far we have come. Each member of our Assembly is proud of what we have accomplished, and we are excited to keep up our work for years to come!
