Grand Assembly 2021 – Sunday

Posted in Blog on July 10th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On Sunday we attended the Grand Installation for the new year, and Grand Worthy Advisor Kaitlyn revealed her new theme, “Have Courage and Be Kind” which is inspired by Cinderella. It was my first time being installed as a Grand Officer on the Grand floor, as I was unable to attend the session the previous year. I have always looked up to Kaitlyn, so I am very happy to serve as one of her officers. We took pictures, got our new merchandise, and finally said goodbye after a long week. I am excited to fill the station of Grand Nature and Grand Representative to Nebraska for the upcoming year and to make more memories with my Rainbow sisters!

Grand Assembly 2021 – Saturday

Posted in Blog on July 9th, 2021 by Christi Reed

The Saturday morning session went just as well I gave my initiatory lesson as Grand Patriotism. I am very happy with not only my performance, but with the performance of every Grand Officer. We took pictures after the session, and then we changed into our “fun” casual shoes for some pictures. After that, the Grand Officers attended the Grand Officer luncheon, where we enjoyed lunch with each other in our fun shoes. We each received a Snoopy plush from Grand Worthy Advisor, Vanessa, as well as an individual photo album. We presented Vanessa with her gift from the Grand Officers, a quilt made from squares we had each designed. The Saturday afternoon session was also beautiful, but full of tears for many of us. Three sisters from my assembly took part in the Majority service. I was doing fine until Mom Jean, one of my assembly moms, gave her part in the ceremony to her daughter Abby, and when she started crying so did many of us. I was able to sign the Book of Memories for the first time, which took a lot of practice to get the hang of, but was ultimately a very memorable part of the session. At the Grand Banquet that night there was a fun 50’s theme, and my Assembly received many new offices for the ensuing year. Quantico-Freedom Assembly also won the “Assembly of the Year” award for the first time as a recently formed assembly and we are still celebrating. I was announced as the new Grand Nature as well as being the Grand Representative to Nebraska for the new term. One of my former assembly sisters and greatest friends in Rainbow, Lorkin, received the honor of being the new Grand Worthy Associate Advisor, and I am so proud of her and everything she will accomplish! After the banquet, we changed into new dresses and headed down to the dance, before going to bed. It was a long day, but ultimately a fun and emotional one.

Grand Assembly 2021 – Friday

Posted in Blog on July 8th, 2021 by Christi Reed

The “Happiness is Virginia Rainbow” Grand Assembly opened on Friday evening after a long day of practices. This was my first year as a Grand Officer, so I was a bit nervous going into it, but it was a success! Several of the girls in my assembly and newer girls throughout the state had never attended a Grand Assembly before, so it was a time of firsts for many of us, but it went smoothly. I was officially escorted to be introduced as a Grand Officer by my friend Kate, and I am grateful that she was able to be there for me. The opening session was beautiful, as we unveiled our very fun and catchy walk in for the first time. There was a fun activity that night, where we watched a movie and played games. The girls in my room headed to bed early to prepare for the long Saturday ahead of us…

Busch Gardens Fun

Posted in Blog on July 7th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On Thursday, June 24th, the day before Grand Assembly officially began, the members and adults of Quantico-Freedom Assembly #6, as well as our friend Kassidy from Manassas Assembly, went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg for a day of fun before the formal weekend ahead. I drove down with Mom Ange and JoElla, and once we arrived we met up with the rest of the girls and adults. We went on roller coasters, sat down for some lunch, and went on more roller coasters before finally meeting back at the front of the park to head to our hotel for the weekend. It was a fun and tiring day in the sun, but spending time with my friends is always welcome. I hope we can go back again the next time we are in the area!
