DeMolay Masquerade Ball

Posted in Blog, Events on January 17th, 2026 by admin

On January 17, 2026, at Monitor Lodge, Eastern Region DeMolay hosted their Masquerade Ball. There was a lot of great food like mini cheesecakes, fruit, veggies, chips, pigs in a blanket, and more. The food was so good that it was gone as soon as it was put out. The first part of the dance was your normal dancing, but then they brought out fake snowballs for people to throw at each other, which was a lot of fun and a great twist to a dance! Then for the last hour, there was karaoke.

I am so happy I got to go to this dance. It is a great way to kick off the new year. Most of the highlights from the event were during karaoke. First I want to say everyone did amazing. My brother Riley sang songs such as Popular from Wicked and Perfect by Ed Sheeran. Also, Michael, Junior, and Carl sang Barbie Girl. This was an amazing, laughter filled event and I’m so glad I was able to attend it.

Kempsville DeMolay White Elephant Event

Posted in Blog, Events on December 20th, 2025 by Joseph Grist

On December 20th, 2025, at Bayside Masonic Lodge, Kempsville Chapter hosted a White Elephant gift exchange. For food options there were nuggets, meatballs, fruit and veggie trays, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and much more. At first, everyone was eating and talking to others while waiting for everyone to get ready for the white elephant exchange. After the game started, most people picked a gift instead of stealing. But once someone started the stealing process, it didn’t stop for a while!

The reason I went to this event is that I love supporting my Demolay brothers at their events. I also wasn’t busy that day so I was really excited to be able to go. When it was my turn I decided to steal the gift that had fuzzy socks, UNO, and candy. I’m so happy I was able to see my friends before the holidays!

Happy 50th Anniversary Hampton Assembly No. 2

Posted in Blog on August 31st, 2025 by admin

As Virginia’s oldest, active Rainbow Assembly, Hampton Assembly #2 proudly celebrated its 50th Anniversary with an unforgettable evening of tradition, friendship, and joy! Members past and present came together with Rainbow family from across Virginia, and even South Carolina to honor this incredible milestone. Guests enjoyed heartfelt remarks from those in attendance, as well as special remarks from Hampton’s very first Worthy Advisor, connecting the Assembly’s rich history to its vibrant present. The evening featured a beautiful Bible Retirement Ceremony, written by Hampton Member and Junior Past Grand Worthy Advisor of Virginia, Elise, marking the conclusion of the original Bible, used since the Assembly’s Institution in 1975, and the introduction of a new Bible to guide us for decades to come. The evening was filled with joy, laughter, and lasting memories—a fitting tribute to fifty-years of excellence and a bright future ahead!

Rainbow Girl Reports:

On August 23rd, 2025 Hampton Assembly had its 50th anniversary for their Assembly. The Hampton girls retired their Bible, which is the first time in Virginia Rainbow history. For a girl who just got in a year ago this was really cool to watch. They had great food like fruit trays, veggie trays, BBQ sandwiches, cake, and other desserts. Before the Bible ceremony, they had people talk about how Rainbow had changed their lives. One of the stories that was said talked about how when they were a little girl and they was at an event, she would always be amazed by the Rainbow girls because they looked like princesses. We had girls from South Carolina come too. It was really cool that both jurisdictions could come together for such an amazing ceremony, since Virginia became its own jurisdiction. After the Bible ceremony, all of the majority and current Rainbow girls sang My Rainbow Dreams. This 5 was made by the Hampton Assembly and the Norfolk Assembly now uses it too during our meetings. I went to this event because I wanted to support my Rainbow sisters. Over all it was a wonderful event and I’m so honored I could be there. (By Macie R)

Phones Away Game Day (Norfolk Assembly No. 15)

Posted in Blog on August 25th, 2025 by admin

Phones Away Game Day was a time where we were not allowed on our phones when we played games. We had many games set up to play like Chutes and Ladders, Shipwreck, Yahtzee, Uno, and so on. We had many snacks that costed around a dollar. These were lots of chips and there was lots of candy. There were some decorations related to the theme like stars.

The people in attendance were Me, Mom Katherine, Morgan, Chloe, Macie, and Mom Julie. I played Shipwreck with Chloe while Mom Katherine and sister played Uno. We took lots of photos on Chloe’s camera. All of us, with the exception of Mom Julie, played Yahtzee and we were quite enthusiastic about the game. Overall, it was quite the fun time and I’m very glad I went. (by Ava C.)
