Rainbow University

Posted in Blog, Events on March 21st, 2026 by Joseph Grist

On March 21st we all gathered at South Norfolk lodge to have our Rainbow University Watch Party. The people that were there from Norfolk Assembly #15 were myself, Ava C, Manuela H, Alaina N, and Macy R. In addition, we had our rainbow sister Gabby O from Hampton #2 attend with us. All us girls and adults sat together with the Watch Party starting at 1:00 pm and ending at 3:30 pm. We all loved listening to the astronaut talk about the 4 C’s and how she was a past Rainbow girl. We also liked listening to the other presenters and doing some little games and the surveys throughout the Watch Party.

We had a couple of snacks like popcorn, chips, and some chocolates and overall we had a good time all hanging out and learning more about Rainbow and leadership. At the very end at the conclusion of the Watch Party, we did some fun line dances to end the day.

Spaghetti Fundraiser for the Bradshaw Family

Posted in Blog, Events on February 22nd, 2026 by Joseph Grist

On Sunday February 22nd, 2026 I attended and helped serve the Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser in honor of Dad Russell Bradshaw. The event started around 1pm in the afternoon and ended around 5:30 pm. The place was packed with all of Dad Russell’s family and close friends. Dad Russell was the Associate Bethel Guardian (ABG) of Bethel No. 42 of Virginia Beach, VA.

The fundraiser also included a live performance from a country band, a children’s table, and a silent auction that featured many different baskets in honor of Dad Russell. The fundraiser was successfully held at the Khedive Shriners Temple in Chesapeake, VA. I was more than happy to attend and helped serve alongside the Job’s Daughters of Bethel No. 42, as well as the DeMolays from Kempsville Chapter. It was a pleasure to be with everyone!

Galentine’s Sleepover

Posted in Blog, Events on February 21st, 2026 by Joseph Grist

On February 21, 2026, at South Norfolk Lodge. Norfolk Assembly hosted their annual Galentines sleepover. It started at 7 pm on the 21st and went to 10 am on the 22nd. There were fruit trays, veggies, chips, candy, soda, and so much more food to enjoy!

First, we got to decorate our own bags so people could put valentines cards in them. We also got gifts from the Lady Shrine which included cozy socks and glow sticks! Second, we played different games, including one where you had to pick up marshmallows with a straw and put them in a cup. All the girls got very competitive at this part! Lastly, we concluded the night with some Disney sing-alongs and finally went upstairs to sleep. For breakfast in the morning, we had munchies and food from the night before.

I’m so happy I get to go to this sleepover every year. I love spending time with my Rainbow and Jobie sisters. We stayed up late and talked for hours and just enjoyed each other’s company. I love being able to have this connection with my sisters. Alaina did an amazing job hosting the event and I can’t wait for next year’s sleepover!

The Galantine’s Sleepover was held February 21st at South Norfolk Lodge, home of my Assembly, Norfolk #15. Some of our members that attended included Ava C, Manuela H, Alaina N, and Macy R. Also, many of our Jobie sisters attended our sleepover event too! There was so much laughter and fun, I was excited to get the night started!

For food, a lot of people brought snacks such as chips, desserts, fruits, candy, and so much more. We decorated fun bags to put candy grams in so we all had a Galantine’s treat. All of us played fun game’s, my favorite was seeing if you can get all of the Skittles in a cup but with a straw (I was definitely the best at this game).

Also, I wanted to recognize and show my appreciation for the bags from Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America, Zulekia Court. Thank you for all the goodies inside them! We had such cute socks and fun glow sticks to party with!

Kempsville DeMolay Spaghetti Dinner

Posted in Blog, Events on February 21st, 2026 by Joseph Grist

On February 21, 2026, at Kempsville Masonic Lodge. Kempsville Chapter hosted their annual Spaghetti dinner fundraiser from 3pm-7pm. Every year, they serve spaghetti with your choice of meat sauce or non-meat sauce, salad, and pie. We had a lot of rainbows and Jobies there to support our brothers. Kempsville DeMolay did an amazing job with this event. They had 3 boys making plates, a couple serving people, 2 working the pie station, and 2 floating around collecting trash and making drinks. The theme for this year was Space, and their motto was, “Our spaghetti is out of this world.”

I am so happy I was able to get to this event. I was able to arrive early with my brother, who is a member of the chapter, and help the DeMolay boys set up everything. I loved being able to talk to my friends while we ate and talked to everyone before the event started. Great job, Kempsville Chapter, the spaghetti was indeed out of this world!

On February 21st, Assembly 15 from Norfolk attended Kempsville DeMolay’s Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser. The boys were serving tables as fellowship was being held around the room. They served salad, spaghetti with a choice of meat sauce or regular sauce, and dessert. All of the food was delicious and wonderfully prepared by the members. The DeMolay members did a great job in making sure all visitors got their food in a timely manner.

Norfolk Assembly was able to hangout with some Jobie sisters at the same time and the laughter they shared was amazing. It was amazing to see all our Masonic family come out and support our local DeMolay chapter. It is always great to see a wonderful turnout from all members of our family. The connection between the three Masonic youth organizations in this area is great and we share a bond that is hard to break.
