Rainbow Sunday

Posted in Blog on June 6th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 8th, our Assembly had a really big Rainbow Sunday celebration that included the Initiation of two new Rainbow Girls. We met up at Grace United Methodist Church in Manassas for the 11 am service with many of our parents and Masonic family.

After the service, we went back to the Lodge for an Initiation of two new Rainbow Girls, Grace and Eliza. After the initiation we all had a cookout.  Dad Wyatt and Dad Stan kept the hamburgers and hot dogs coming from a fire pit outside. We had veggie burgers for the vegetarians. Everyone brought tons of food.  There were lots of side dishes and chips and drinks. We toasted marshmallows over the fire and made s’mores. We had so many desserts we almost couldn’t eat them all! We also played kickball outside for a couple of hours. It was a long day and we kept going until almost dinner time, but no one could eat any more, so we cleaned up and went home.

It was a really fun day, and I look forward to next year.

Sleepover

Posted in Blog on May 16th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 28th, after the MCHQWA Ball, Manassas Assembly #13 held a sleepover at the Lodge. The Girls there were Katie, Mackenzie, Sami, Allison, Eliza, Ashley, Jessica, Zoey, Joella, Dalanie, Gigi, Jazmyn, myself, and I brought a prospect; my friend Grace. Grace and I rode back to the Lodge with Mom Ange and Joella, and we listened to BTS, Hamilton, and Dear Evan Hansen, but mostly BTS. During the night, we did some scrapbooking, ate lots of snacks, and played a bunch of games. Mom Ange and Mom Jean helped everyone out and volunteered to chaperone us.

I was glad I got rid of almost all the 5 packages of cookies I brought, because for a while I thought I might’ve gotten too many, but it turned out to be a perfect amount. During one of the games we played, I can’t quite recall the name, Allison, Sami, and I hid together, and my whispering gave us away, and it was funny to me but also saddening because our hiding spot was given away. Most of us went to sleep at 3 or so, but Allison, Grace, Jessica and I were up at 4:30 playing exploding kittens. Mom Jean told us that we had to go to sleep by 5, and the rest of us awake did just that. I woke up at 8, and was surprisingly not cranky in the morning. After Grace and I left, I felt tired, but not too tired, so we went to Starbucks and grabbed some coffee. I surprisingly was able to get through the whole morning just fine on 3 hours of sleep, but when nighttime came around, I crashed, but was perfectly fine for school the next day. Overall, the sleepover was very fun, and I now know not to whisper when I’m hiding somewhere because I’m a very loud whisperer. We also need to give a big thank you to Dad Clancy for supplying the Chips and Water, and another big thank you to Mom Jean and Ange for putting up with us as we stayed up through the night.

Ashburn Initiation

Posted in Blog on May 15th, 2018 by Webmaster

On May 6th, Manassas Assembly #13 attended Ashburn Assembly #11’s Initiation, in which they initiated Ava. The girls who attended were Joella, Gigi, Katie, Zoey, M’Balu, Batu, Dalanie, Sami, and myself. All of us did at least one protem. Gigi was Worthy Advisor, Katie was Worthy Associate Advisor, Dalanie was Charity, Zoey was Hope and Nature, I was Religion and Fidelity, Joella was Patriotism, Batu was Service, M’Balu was Drill leader, and Sami was Faith. I was asked to be Religion at the last moment, so I spent Opening and the time when Love was doing her speech to refresh on my speech, as I hadn’t been Religion in a while, but I ultimately think I didn’t fail too badly at it. Fidelity was already implanted in my head since I learned it for Competitions, so that just came off without me having to give it much thought. When we had to bring the ribbons back to the pedestals, I got a little confused, but M’Balu helped me out and took the ribbon off.  After the Initiation, we all ate snacks and talked. Overall, the Initiation was very beautiful and memorable, and I’m happy that we have a new Girl in Virginia Rainbow!

Spring MCHQWA Ball

Posted in Blog on May 14th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 28th, Manassas Assembly #13 went to the MCHQWA Ball held in Kena Shriner in Fairfax. The girls who were there were Mackenzie, Kate, Allison, Jazmyn, Zoey, Katie, Ashley, Gigi, Sami, Emma, Dalanie, Jessica, Joella, Eliza, myself and a prospect, Grace. My dad drove me and Grace there, and the first thing that happened was everyone complimented Grace on her dress because, honestly, it was beautiful. We all had fun dancing, and there were a couple favorites that were played, such as Sweet Caroline and the Yodeling Kid Remix. The introductions were beautiful, and I’m pretty sure Dad Clancy, Gigi, Katie, and Preston got the loudest ovations because we were all screaming words of encouragement when they were being introduced. When I stopped, I had to stop for a minute to regain my voice. There were also other fun songs that were played, such as the cupid shuffle, and during the slow songs, some of us danced with each other. Overall, the dance was amazing, and I had so much fun!
