School in the Winter Months

Posted in Blog on July 3rd, 2018 by Webmaster

The sky is full of clouds,
Gray like my pencil’s lead.
The wind blows my scarf,
A strong, cold breath.
Sharp, freezing rain falls,
And stings my face like an icy bee.
The grass wilts, yellow and brown,
But waiting to grow again in spring.
Other children hurry,
Awaiting the warmth of indoors.
But I stop sometimes to admire the trees,
Their hopeful branches reaching out to the hidden sun.
The yellow buses scream.
Boisterous children hurry out of their bright doors,
Their cheeks redder than fresh apples.
I walk over the frozen grass,
Flattening under my boots.
“Crunch, crunch, crunch.”
The warm glow of my school is welcoming,
Calling for me to come and get warm.
They may complain about rain or sleet,
But the students always watch for a winter flake.
Just one flake is as exciting as their birthdays.

Clean the Bay 2018

Posted in Blog on July 1st, 2018 by Webmaster

On June 2nd, Katie, Sami, Gigi, Mom Robin and I piled into the Chevy Malibu and headed down to Hampton at 5:30 in the morning. We stopped along the way to get some yummy Wawa drinks to wake us up. Once we got to Hampton, all of Virginia Rainbow met up and got ready to pick up some trash! All of Rainbow was in the same spot around the edge of the Bay. We found lots of great trash items, for example:  a chair, a ring pop, some crabs, and so much more. It was so much fun to be with all of Virginia Rainbow at the beach and help the beach at the same time!

Rainbow Regatta Charity Dinner

Posted in Blog on June 29th, 2018 by Webmaster

On Saturday May 19th, Olivia the Grand Worthy Advisor of Virginia held the “Rainbow Regatta” Charity Dinner. The girls that attended from Manassas were Katie, Sami, Gigi, Dalanie, Zoe and myself.  We were packed in our cars early in the morning and we headed down to Hampton, Virginia.   Earlier that day we attended the Homecoming Grand Visitation at Hampton’s Lodge. It was a wonderful experience to go down and get to see all of the wonderful Rainbow Girls that live on the other side of Virginia that we don’t always get to see. I always have such a great time visiting with them. The charity dinner served wonderful food that I definitely enjoyed eating (the mac and cheese was amazing). There was also a huge floating shark and a rain gutter Regatta competition which all the girls enjoyed.  I can’t wait until the next time I get to visit all of my wonderful Rainbow Sisters.

Rainbow is Family

Posted in Blog on June 26th, 2018 by Webmaster

Rainbow is more than just an organization, it is a family. The friendships I have made in Rainbow will last a lifetime. Rainbow has led me to make friends not even from the same state. Everywhere I travel through Rainbow, I feel at home with all the other girls across the Country. Rainbow Girls are always so welcoming and loving people to be around. My Rainbow friends and I have made some of my best memories, like crazy fun car rides, the best sleepovers, the funniest jokes, my dumbest moments that we always laugh about and just everything I do with them is great. They are the best friends I could ever ask for and I know that they always have my back.  My Rainbow friends have provided me with endless support through the toughest times and I am so thankful for them. Thank you to any of my Rainbow Sisters reading this and I can’t wait for so many more memories with all of you!
