50’s Drive In Movie

Posted in Blog on January 16th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On September 12th, 2020, the Rainbow Girls held a 50’s themed drive-in movie!  It was a blast!  There were so many cool outfits to represent the 50’s, such as poodle skirts, Pink Ladies’ jackets, and even letterman jackets.  Everyone was so excited when people started showing up.  Some girls directed cars to their spots. Others worked on concessions.  Some were selling grand merchandise, and others were selling mini-cardboard cars for the younger children.  We intended to have a couple of cars, maybe 9 or 10…but we ended up having so many cars that the whole parking lot and even some of the grass area was full!  Everyone had a good time eating their snacks in their car while getting to listen to the movie on a personal radio station and getting to watch it on a big projector.  After we were all finally done directing cars, delivering snacks, and selling things, everyone including the girls got to relax and watch the movie, and even got to have fun conversations on the side.  The 50’s drive-in movie was so much fun and a huge success, and I hope we get to do it again another time!

Scholarship Rock Climbing

Posted in Blog on January 15th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On October 10th, 2020, we had a scholarship event at Vertical Rock and got to go rock climbing.  All Covid-19 and social distancing precautions were followed.  There were girls from many different assemblies! There was so much to do and so many walls to climb.  There were easy walls, scary walls, extremely hard walls, short walls, and high walls.  Everyone has so much fun climbing them.  Our Grand Worthy Advisor works at Vertical Rock, so she got to do something really cool for everyone to watch.  She climbed a very high wall, and rock by rock she clipped her rope at little checkpoints, it was really cool!  The first time she did it she got all the way to the top and hopped back down.  The second time she did it, she got a little over three quarters of the way, and then fell from very high up, afterwards we found out it was actually on purpose and it was something they did for fun.  It was amazing.  There were also some rocks you could adopt!  It was $5 to adopt a rock.  I adopted two, one looked like a croissant, so I named it “Le Frank” and the other I named “Damien”.  We had so much at Vertical Rock, and I hope we get to do it again soon!

What I Love About Rainbow

Posted in Blog on January 15th, 2021 by Christi Reed

I first joined Rainbow on October 9th, 2018.  When I joined Rainbow, I was very shy and didn’t know how to fit in, but then girls started to talk to me.  I instantly connected with some of the girls and made some really great friends.  Rainbow has taught me how to become a leader and mature a lot more.  It has helped me become more responsible and has also helped me on my speaking skills.  It is much easier to talk in front of big crowds, and I frequently participate to read for the class in school.  If I had to choose my favorite thing from Rainbow it would most definitely be the girls.  They are so nice and fun and easy to talk to, if you are the shyest girl ever, they can get you to break out your shell in a minute.  They never judge you and may even help you with some things you are struggling with.  There is so much more about Rainbow that I love, but if I went on and on talking about it, there would be a lot more than one page.

That is what I love about Rainbow!!

Virtual MCHQWA Ball

Posted in Blog on January 14th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On September 26th, 2020, A group of Rainbow Girls and I got to attend a virtual MCHQWA Ball.  We had lots of fun.  Everyone was so excited to hear people get announced even though it was virtual.  Due to the circumstance of COVID-19, we unfortunately did not get to see everyone in person or dance, but we found solutions to still make it fun and awesome.  Our youth leadership set up a Disney Kahoot! For all the girls and boys to play. It was SO much fun! 44 people participated.  So, even though we were not able to be there in person, I am glad that we got to attend the MCHQWA Ball.
