Rainbow Retreat from Manassas

Posted in Blog on March 29th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On October 1st – 3rd we had our Rainbow retreat. I had a GREAT time, all the way from the car ride there to the moment we left.  We started out by jammin’ out to some 80’s and Disney music with our car full of people and enjoyed the ride down to Camp Overlook in Keezletown.  When we got there, we had a great time interacting and reuniting with friends! Then we set up all of our stuff and went to watch Cinderella!

The second day, we had an eventful day of games, decorating, and fun challenges! Each one taught us an important lesson. We were all on different teams (Pumpkin, Gus Gus, Jaq, Glass Slipper) we decorated our team signs then we went on to do small challenges and learn lessons along with them. After all of the stations, we ate lunch and went out to play sports and games.  We played volleyball, kickball, an egg spoon race, and more! My personal favorite was kickball, it was a lot of fun! After our very eventful day, we ended the night by eating s’mores and singing songs by then campfire.  And then the next day we all said goodbye to our friends and headed home.

I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for next year’s retreat!

Manassas Initiation

Posted in Blog on August 30th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On August 10th, my assembly had an initiation for our candidate, Lily. My station is Charity, so I had a long part not only for the opening, but I also had the Pot of Gold speech. I was quite nervous waiting for the color stations to be done with their parts, because this is the first time I had performed a part like this. But it went well, and we had refreshments after the meeting, which included a giant cake that said “Welcome Lily” in big frosting letters. I am excited for when we have our next initiation.

Summertime

Posted in Blog on August 29th, 2021 by Christi Reed

My favorite thing that I look forward to every summer is looking for bugs. I have a high interest in them, and summer is just warm enough for them to crawl out. I always take pictures of the ones I find to be the most interesting, and sometimes I even hold them. Thankfully, I have only been bitten once. I also try to identify the species by comparing my pictures to information I find online. Although I’m sad this summer is coming to a close, that just means there will be more opportunities for fun next year.

Battlefield Clean Up

Posted in Blog on August 27th, 2021 by Christi Reed

On August 7th, my fellow assembly girls and myself went to the Manassas Battlefield trail to pick up trash. We walked for about an hour and a half cleaning the path while admiring the forest scenery. I admired some butterflies and grasshoppers that would pop out occasionally. After our walk, we stopped for some refreshments and snacks and even got to take pictures with people dressed like civil war soldiers before we got in our cars. They had replicas of old muskets and canteens. We had a blast, and we are excited for other events Eliza has planned for her term.
