Christmas at Manasseh

On December 10th, Manasseh Lodge #182 had their yearly “Holiday Party”.  We played games, read stories, and had lots of fun!  The party began with an intense game of musical chairs which eventually came to an end with a tie, two little boys who got prizes.  After musical chairs was finished, we had our tradition of Dad Bill Costis reading to the kids “‘Twas the Night Before Christmas”.  He made it very entertaining by interacting with the children while reading the story.  Once the story had finished, Santa came out and greeted everybody!! He passed out presents to everyone, gave hugs, and got pictures with families.  We also had an ugly sweater contest with prizes!! Overall, we all had a great time at the party and I always love it every year!

Lodge Sleepover

Posted in Blog on March 31st, 2022 by Christi Reed

On December 10th, Manassas Assembly #13 had a lodge sleepover.  Earlier that day Manasseh Lodge #182 had their annual holiday party, so we all just stayed after the party.  We had a blast! We played games like “sardines”, “werewolves”, “Apples to Apples”, made bracelets, watched shows like OBX, and did lots of Christmas, Hamilton, and Disney karaoke! I had a great time hanging out with everyone, it was a great way to get to bond with the newer girls and get to know everyone a little better.  I could tell everyone was having a great time and it made me happy seeing that the newer girls were having fun!  We got only a little sleep….but it was worth the hours of fun! Can’t wait for the next sleepover.

Fall MCHQWA

Posted in Blog on March 30th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On November 20th, 2021, we had the MCHQWA ball from 7:30 – 11:30pm at Kena Shrine Center.  We had so much fun! We danced to line dance songs such as “Cotton Eye Joe”, “Cha-cha slide”, and more! Jobies, DeMolay, and Rainbow all got to interact with each other and reunite with friends. It was amazing and really fun to be able to see some people I hadn’t seen in a while! I can’t wait until next year’s MCHQWA ball, really looking forward to it.

Medieval Times in Manassas

Posted in Blog on March 30th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On December 4th, Manassas Assembly went to Medieval Times.  The show was SO great! and SO entertaining!! Horses, knights, tricks, games, puns, sword fights, jousting, gosh!

When we all got there, we all got assigned crowns with different colors, we were the “Red” team.  Just from stepping into the little arena, I could tell it was going to be fun.  We all sat down and were served with some pretty tasty food, starting out with garlic bread and tomato soup, then the horses came out!! They were so beautiful and really well trained.  After they introduced all of the teams, they introduced the Queen, who eventually ordered everyone to be served dinner. Now, although the show was very entertaining, I feel like watching everyone eat dinner was one of the most entertaining parts because of how funny it was.  We were all served half of a roasted chicken, half of a potato, and a small corn on the cob- the funny part is you weren’t allowed to use silverware, so watching everyone rip into a chicken using their bare hands was very entertaining in my opinion.  After we were served our dinner, the knights began the games! I don’t know exactly what all the games were called but they were very interesting and fun to watch.  Then, after all the games were done, the knights finally began to joust, there were quite a few rounds of watching people getting knocked off the horses and fighting with swords and other really cool weapons! It was surprising to see that when the swords hit each other really hard, sparks would fly! Finally, in the end, the “Black and White” team ended up winning, and we’re entertained with cheesy puns as we left the arena.  I had so much fun at Medieval Times and maybe someday we can go again!
