On September 7th Mom Snell and I headed off to meet one of Ashburn’s newest recruits, Kylie and her mom, at 10am to head out on a treasure hunt for dresses. We decided to head to Manassas in search of the perfect dress for both Kylie and me. Mom and Dad Snell had done recon in Ashburn the Thursday prior and found that most of the dresses in our area may be too big for us.

We found ourselves in the Manassas Salvation Army. Kylie and I had one cart and we went to look around in the scarves, shoes and clothes. Mom Snell and Mom Schneider went to the dresses. By the time we were at the dressing rooms we had one cart over flowing with dresses and a second one with a few in it. Yes ladies, we know how to look and find treasures.

Kylie and I shared a dressing room because there were a lot of ties, zippers and bows to tie. We needed to help each other. I even tried on a white wedding dress because I wanted another white dress. It was too big, but it was fun to try on. We were both able to find perfect dresses with a little altering. The Moms were also able to find perfect dresses. Kylie and I also found scarves. The shoes we had to leave because as Moms know, heels can be a problem when doing a lot of walking.

We had lunch and found out that both Kylie and I are left handed and both love mac and cheese. If was fun getting to know a soon to be new Sister and learn we have lots in common. Then it was off to several more thrift stores in search of more treasurers.

When we finally made it home, it was 5pm. It was a long day, but a wonderful day. I hope next shopping day more of my Ashburn Sisters will be able to go. Nothing says sisters like shopping….

Ashburn Assembly 11

This past weekend was very busy for Richmond Rainbow. We had dinner with Abe where we served the Grand Chapter of Eastern Star. Where we got to know a little bit more about Abraham Lincoln. Then the next day we had an early morning serving breakfast to Star. Where our very own Becca won a pig and Erin won a jewelry box during the auction. Later on that day we all got back together to pass out programs and help with the reception at the Grand Adah’s home chapter. During the initiation we all played cards together and even got to go eat some delicious Chick-fil-a. I loved being able to see the same women and men every day because of the friendships I was able to make. It was a very fun weekend spent with our sponsoring order.

Richmond #10

My first Retreat as a Rainbow Girl was the weekend of August 3rd and 4^th, 2013. We had to get up really early to meet at Mom Erin’s house. I am so glad I got to sleep while Mom and Dad got to stay awake and drive me there. Mom Erin drove Darby, my Mom, and me down to Jamestown. Mom Suzanne drove Mallory and Cameron, in a separate car.

It was a long trip, but worth it when we got there. There were so many girls from all over. Yes, I was a little afraid at first because we were all placed in different cabins. Parents were across the grounds in cabins by themselves and we were on the same side as the activity building. I did have a Sister I knew in my cabin from Manassas, Abigail (we play Mind Craft together) the other Sisters were Sarah, Rachal, Christine, Anna, Taylor, and Abbey (a pledge). Cabin 2 was Lucky Cabin 2. We put a sign on our door with our names on it.

I got to sleep on the top bunk bed, which was fun. We made necklaces out of dominos as a craft. We ate lunch under a big pavilion and it was fun to see everyone. When it came time to swim in the pool it started to storm so we had to get out and wait for the storm to pass. We played War in the cabin while it rained really hard outside. When the storm passed we ate dinner. We did get to go in the pool for a short time before our meeting.

We had a meeting after swimming and talked about how people look in person, in pictures, magazines, and movies. We listened to songs about looks. We told everyone one thing we liked about ourselves. We played with musical instruments (there were so many of them). We got to try different ones. It was fun and we made lots of noise. We ate s’mores by the campfire and sang songs.

I did get a little scared before bedtime, but Sarah took me back to the cabin and we played cards before bed. The morning seemed to come early and I’d made it. I gathered all my stuff in one spot to pack up. We had a big breakfast together and took pictures to remember Retreat. It was time to say ‘see you later’ to all my new Rainbow Sisters and hope to see them soon. We had to load up and leave camp.

There was so much packed into a short time, but I will never forget my first Rainbow Retreat and my Sisters who helped me make it through the night safely.

The date was July 26, 2013. The victim, Darby, Worthy Advisor-Elect.

We worked very hard not to let her know, but we were going to kidnap her for a late night breakfast. I spent the day with her shopping and didn’t want to let her know that I had plans with our other Sisters to show up at her home that night and steal her away for a late night breakfast at I-Hop in Leesburg. Peyton, Courtney, Mom Erin, Ella (pledge in waiting), Ryan (DeMolay in waiting), Mom Vanessa, Kassidy (pledge in waiting), Mom Snell, and I showed up at her front door, balloons in hand and kidnapped her to celebrate her 14th birthday. Her Mom and Dad would later follow and join us at the restaurant. We all sang Happy Birthday with the staff and others in the restaurant and enjoyed fellowship and fun each other.

Look out for the next Kidnapping Victim….we are just getting started and it doesn’t have to be in the morning any more…..we can show up anytime…..
