Sleepover Time

Posted in Blog on December 20th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Saturday November 10th, Sara, Audrey, Lauren, Kensley, Amelia, Reagan, Jasmine, Elise, and Alex had a sleepover at Hampton Lodge #2.  After paint night we read through our lines for our play on December 1st. Then we got some ice cream and while everyone was eating it we had a little dance party. Once everyone was done eating and dancing we headed upstairs and played a couple games of sardines, Amelia had the best hiding spot. Then we found old scrapbooks. Some of us got tired and went to bed while everyone else either continued looking through the scrapbooks or played more games. Audrey, Amelia, Elise, Jasmine, and Reagan all played a game called Mafia. Everyone got tired and soon fell asleep except Audrey, Jasmine, Elise, and Amelia. Since they were not tired they went downstairs and played a game called Clue. Then we all went to sleep. Around 9:20 am everyone got up and ate donuts for breakfast then started to pack up so we could go home. Before we went home we cleaned the lodge. Then when we finished, we finally left the lodge to head home.

Paint Night Success

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Saturday November 10th, all active members of Hampton Assembly #2 had a paint night led by past Grand Worthy Advisor, Lauren. It was a good turn out and there were even some Tidewater DeMolay boys who attended. We were taught how to make two pumpkins and some decorations around it but some people tweaked it or did something different in general. Kensley made the Grinch’s hand and wrote a quote above it. Audrey wrote a quote, Hunter made one of his pumpkins into Shrek, Sara made a cacti and a crown, Lauren made a tie dye background with Virginia in the middle and Hampton Assembly’s girl’s fingerprints in it, and Logan made one of his pumpkins into Pandora’s box. Also, Audrey painted a plate after she finished hers and since Reagan didn’t paint a canvas she painted a plate too.  Some of us struggled a little and others did really well. Past Grand Worthy Advisor Lauren did a wonderful job leading us through the process. Before we started to paint we had a spaghetti dinner with garlic cheese bread and for dessert we had a chocolate cherry dump cake with ice cream. It was all really good. There were struggles, laughs and jokes and everyone had lots of fun.

Retreat Travels

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Friday September 28th, Reagan, Sara, Alex, Audrey, Eva, Bella, Amelia, Gina, Jojo , Mom Beth, and Dad Mike got in a big van and then we were off to Camp Overlook. We stopped to have dinner at Chick-Fil-A and I wore my poop emoji slippers and got many weird looks. In the car, we had lots of sleeping children, but my question is how Jojo fell asleep sitting straight up?? Once we got to Richmond we went to the rest area and we took pictures there in front of the van. Guess what? We were back on the road. We sang our own songs and had lots of fun playing games and sleeping. At our next rest area stop we saw South Norfolk’s assembly. Finally we were on our last stretch till we were there. It was pretty late so everyone was asleep and I’m thankful for that because we didn’t have to see the narrow roads. I had so much fun with the Rainbow girls and parents and can’t wait for next year!

Sleepover Fun

Posted in Blog on December 19th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On Saturday, October 27th after the GV in Ashburn, Reagan,Sara , Kensley, and Lauren went to Manassas Lodge for their sleepover. We were the second people there so we claimed the good spots first…*spoiler alert* we didn’t sleep so there was no need for a spot. We made Christmas and Thanksgiving cards for the troops and MAHOVA residents. We then played sardines and Lauren had the best hiding spot ever because we couldn’t find her so we had to make her come out. She fit herself in a small box under a bag of shoes in the corner of a closet. For food, we ate spaghetti and pizza which was deliciously made by Mom Paula. We all got together and bonded for a little bit while the next activity was being set up, which was the hand scrub. This was my all time favorite. It was made with sugar and dish soap and it smelled so good and left your hands super soft. This is when everyone was winding down and getting tired but we powered through the last activity, which was ornaments that we designed ourselves. The girls went into the lodge to lay down and try to sleep but we just ended up talking until 2 am. The adults played cards until late too, I think only one of us got actual sleep. Then it came morning time when everyone was dreading getting up but Mom Paula changed that, she said who ever was last up and out of the room had to vacuum and everyone packed and ran out. Ella kindly offered to vacuum so none of us had to do it, which was so amazing. We had waffles for breakfast which were very good and I thank all the cooks, cleaners, drivers, and hosts for putting on this sleepover for us to enjoy. I also thank the girls for being so sweet and caring to  everyone and everything and I hope they had an amazing time like me.
