Pancakes, Spaghetti and Ice Cream

One Saturday morning, bright and early, Smithfield Assembly had a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser at Applebee’s.  It is such a wonderful Fundraiser.  Smithfield girls are pro at being waitresses.  We had signs posted, and high spirits as we waved at the cars passing by.  The good thing is, the Applebee’s employees make the food and we just serve it! We had a hostess and about 6 waiters. Of course, the menu wasn’t very hard because there is only one thing — what could go wrong. I did more of the socializing than the working, being Grand Worthy Advisor is a tough job. I ended my morning with a very filling pancake breakfast.

That’s not all, it doesn’t end with just breakfast, Grand Worthy Advisors must keep their bellies full!

I have thought about it long and hard, and I have come to my conclusion that the Masonic Family has the best food!  As I sat around that Saturday night, feeling like I could go for some delicious food, I remembered that Tidewater DeMolay was having a Spaghetti Dinner!  So I went, of course.  The boys did a GREAT job! They all had on a white shirt, black pants, bow ties, and aprons.  Not only did they look like real waiters but also the lights were dimmed and soft music was playing.  The night was very well planned, and so was the meal.  I walked in, and to my surprise, there was a bunch of Rainbow Girls there! Hampton Assembly went to the dinner to help out and enjoy the food.  After a little talking I was seated, and presented my salad, then my spaghetti; next came the dessert.  It was delicious, I don’t think there was a crumb left on my plate.  No event is complete without handing out a couple of business cards, so that I did.  I met a couple of Masons and invited them to our Meetings.  I also met a Job’s Daughter advisor!  We talked for a long time, exchanged cards, and soon enough I had an email inviting Rainbow Girls to her Bethel’s fun activities.  See how easy that was!  We were invited to go tubing, and to an Ice Cream Social!  We are still trying hard to sync our schedules together.  Well, the night ended and I am still looking forward to visiting Tidewater Chapter again.

That’s not all!  The next day, I received an email to attend an Ice Cream Social at St. Tammany Lodge in Hampton!  Who turns down ice cream?  I had a great time, and talked to the Masons and Eastern Star that were there.  I also had seconds!  It was great!  Thank you so much.

Now you know how a weekend in the life of the Grand Worthy Advisor is, although most times it’s not just food events.

Welcome Home

Smithfield made Assembly Jerseys! On the shirt you wrote your nickname and put the number 5 (Smithfield Assembly#5) & either, “S-field” or, “IORG.” I learned that you should plan out what you are going to do before starting. I messed up on my first try, but thanks to Michelle we fixed it. Making the shirt was kinda hard but it was also fun to do. Now we have cool shirts to wear to show some Smithfield Assembly spirit. We also welcomed home one of our Rainbow sisters, Vicki, who was visiting her father. The meeting was super fun.

Pennsylvania Grand Assembly

Grand Worthy Advisor PA 2009-2010

Grand Worthy Advisor, Michelle, and I both went to Pennsylvania’s Grand Assembly with Mom J and Dad J. The Grand Worthy Advisor in Pennsylvania Rainbow was Danielle. Pennsylvania’s Grand Assembly was much different than our Grand Assembly. Their Grand Assembly lasted five days but we were only there for the weekend. The Grand Sessions were not held at the hotel you stayed in. We had a driver drive us to the sessions and back to the hotel. Mom and Dad J stayed in a different hotel. Michelle and I stayed with two girls from another state. During Pennsylvania’s “Rock’n with Rainbow” Sessions, the Grand Officers wore white and the Grand Representatives dresses were the same dress except the girls alternated by one wearing blue, another wearing pink, the next wearing blue, and so on. The Grand Choir was full of girls. It was very neat. Every time Michelle and I thought the Grand Sessions were over, they were not. They had time to dance on the Grand floor and have a good time. They had a lot of initiates during Initiation. They also did not have air conditioning so we got pop-sickles in the East during one of the sessions. Michelle said she would like that at our Grand Assembly except they are not needed because we actually have air conditioning. Michelle and I went to two of the events that were after the sessions. One was a dinner and dance that Friday night, but we didn’t stay very long, and the other was a full day at the park on Saturday. We got to ride roller-coasters and go to the pool that had water slides. It was a lot like Kings Dominion here in Virginia but not quite as big and not as many good rides.  While we were there, we met other Grand Worthy Advisors, Rainbow Girls, the State Master Councilor of DeMolay, and Miss Job’s Daughter. I became really close friends with Sarah, who is the Grand Worthy Associate Advisor of Maryland. Others that we met were from Ohio, Rhode Island, Canada, and a few others. Going to another Grand Assembly  is so much fun and I would encourage all of you Rainbow Girls to go to one at least once.
