On April 22nd (also Earth Day) Joella, Katie, Sami, Jazmyn, Lilli, and I participated in the Adopt-a-Spot cleanup on Ashton Avenue. First, we came to the Lodge where a lot of the other Girls were making the meal for the firefighters and working on the scrapbook. We figured out which cars we were going to ride in and went on the short (probably 5 minute) drive to Ashton Avenue. When we got there the orange vests, little claw picker upper thingys, and the trash bags were distributed, and we split up into groups of two. Sami and I started next to the 7-Eleven and went all the way past another store and two neighborhoods! Sami was a little bit worried that we looked like people from jail, though. We ended up picking up so much trash that we had to give our trash bags to the adults because it was so heavy! We all found some really weirdthings too! After picking up a lot of trash, getting a lot of plastic bags out of trees, and taking lots of pictures for the scrapbook, we returned to the Lodge.

I had a very fun time and I hope I can do it again.

All the time Rainbow Girls get recognized for going above and beyond, but most times we never pause to recognize our hardworking and supportive Rainbow Dads other than Installations or Grand Assembly.

I would like to take a moment to thank some of our outstanding Rainbow Dads from Manassas Assembly. Dad Bill Costis has protemed as our Outer Observer since Manassas Assembly was Constituted, always reminding our Girls to smile as we walk in for the Opening. He has made it his mission to verify everyone has signed in at every meeting, and never hesitates to help any way he can. Meetings wouldn’t be the same without his humor, smiles, and unwavering support. Although on a busy schedule he always makes time to attend our events. This year he’s been the adult liaison for our Adopt-a-Spot events getting Girls the supplies needed and making sure we have the proper adult supervision.

Our Assembly wouldn’t be the same without him.

Dad Joe Martinez is one of our newest Rainbow Dads and has already made a great impact on our Assembly. He has provided food, entertainment, love and support. He also protemes as Outer Observer protecting us whenever we’re there. He has helped raise money for our events and charities and we look forward to seeing him try to get the title of Assembly Dad away from Dad Clancy.

On April 12th, M’balu, Batu, and I with the help of my mom, Mom Jean, and fed the Masons at the Royal Arch dinner. We served chicken, mash potatoes and gravy, corn and rolls. We made around $75 at the dinner. We had a great time serving and preparing the food.
