Medieval Times in Manassas

Posted in Blog on March 30th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On December 4th, Manassas Assembly went to Medieval Times.  The show was SO great! and SO entertaining!! Horses, knights, tricks, games, puns, sword fights, jousting, gosh!

When we all got there, we all got assigned crowns with different colors, we were the “Red” team.  Just from stepping into the little arena, I could tell it was going to be fun.  We all sat down and were served with some pretty tasty food, starting out with garlic bread and tomato soup, then the horses came out!! They were so beautiful and really well trained.  After they introduced all of the teams, they introduced the Queen, who eventually ordered everyone to be served dinner. Now, although the show was very entertaining, I feel like watching everyone eat dinner was one of the most entertaining parts because of how funny it was.  We were all served half of a roasted chicken, half of a potato, and a small corn on the cob- the funny part is you weren’t allowed to use silverware, so watching everyone rip into a chicken using their bare hands was very entertaining in my opinion.  After we were served our dinner, the knights began the games! I don’t know exactly what all the games were called but they were very interesting and fun to watch.  Then, after all the games were done, the knights finally began to joust, there were quite a few rounds of watching people getting knocked off the horses and fighting with swords and other really cool weapons! It was surprising to see that when the swords hit each other really hard, sparks would fly! Finally, in the end, the “Black and White” team ended up winning, and we’re entertained with cheesy puns as we left the arena.  I had so much fun at Medieval Times and maybe someday we can go again!

Rainbow Retreat from Manassas

Posted in Blog on March 29th, 2022 by Christi Reed

On October 1st – 3rd we had our Rainbow retreat. I had a GREAT time, all the way from the car ride there to the moment we left.  We started out by jammin’ out to some 80’s and Disney music with our car full of people and enjoyed the ride down to Camp Overlook in Keezletown.  When we got there, we had a great time interacting and reuniting with friends! Then we set up all of our stuff and went to watch Cinderella!

The second day, we had an eventful day of games, decorating, and fun challenges! Each one taught us an important lesson. We were all on different teams (Pumpkin, Gus Gus, Jaq, Glass Slipper) we decorated our team signs then we went on to do small challenges and learn lessons along with them. After all of the stations, we ate lunch and went out to play sports and games.  We played volleyball, kickball, an egg spoon race, and more! My personal favorite was kickball, it was a lot of fun! After our very eventful day, we ended the night by eating s’mores and singing songs by then campfire.  And then the next day we all said goodbye to our friends and headed home.

I can’t wait to find out what’s in store for next year’s retreat!

On November 14th, 2021, Quantico-Freedom Assembly held the annual Grand Cross of Color observance during the regular business meeting, and Mom Jean talked about the importance and meaning of the Grand Cross of Color. She also discussed how the Grand Cross is awarded by the Assembly, by initiating 3 new members in one calendar year. After our meeting, we went to IHOP and had dinner together for the observance.
