Feeding the Firefighters

Posted in Blog on May 10th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 22nd, Dalanie, Isabella, Maribelle, Alyssa, Gigi, Sami, Katie, Kate Jazmyn, Joella and I helped with delivering a huge meal to the local fire station.  When we got there, there were only two firefighters at the station.  But as time passed, more arrived.  The Girls and I had to carry a lot of food up two flights of stairs.  Of course, as soon as we got to the station, Jazmyn and I were extremely curious as to the whereabouts of the fire pole.   Eventually one of the firefighters showed it to us.  As soon as I saw it, I knew that it was going to be the highlight of my day!  We took a lot of great pictures and I couldn’t believe how much fun I had that day. We then took one last picture with the firefighters and the day was over.

Manassas Feeds Firefighters

Posted in Blog on May 9th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 22nd, I was in charge of organizing the Fire Station Meal to provide the firefighters with a meal as a way of saying thanks for all that they do for the community. We arrived at the Lodge at noon and gathered all the food that everyone donated.  Most of it was just repackaged to be sent over and there were five of us working in the kitchen while the rest of the Girls worked on the Adopt-a-Spot event scheduled for the same time.  The girls working in the kitchen were:  Kate, Dalanie, Maribel, Gigi and me.  Once we were done with what we could do, we worked on the Assembly scrapbook until the pasta was all cooked, and then we delivered the meal to the firefighters. We got to go in and deliver the meal to their kitchen which is upstairs in the firehouse.  I was surprised at the security in place.  We were able to see the pole that they slide down in emergencies and we got a picture in front of the fire station with some of the firefighters.  They invited us back to get a full tour at a later date so we could see everything that they do, and I hope that we can go sometime since it looks like a lot of fun.

State Ritual Competitions

Posted in Blog on May 8th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 14th, I went to the State Ritual Competitions for the first time.  I think Manassas Assembly had the most people competing this year.  I did the competition for my age group.  I don’t think I did too well this time, but that’s okay because it’s good practice for Supreme Assembly for me and I now know what to expect.  I did have a good time and when it wasn’t my time to compete we were doing each other’s hair and makeup as well as singing to Hamilton Musical songs with girls from not just our Assembly but other one’s as well.  In the dining area there were games, snacks and Libby’s pop up shop for tickets and her Grand Year merchandise.

Overall, I had a good time and I really got to know Eliza, one of our Assembly’s newest members since she traveled with me and we were in the car for over three hours that day.  I didn’t get home until late and I have to thank Mom Joanne and Kate for bringing home my Sherlock Holmes book that I forgot in the dining area. I really love that book!

Masonic Home of Virginia – MAHOVA

Posted in Blog on May 7th, 2018 by Webmaster

On April 14th, we visited the residents of the Masonic Home of Virginia – MAHOVA.  The ride down there was long but Eliza was in the car with me so I didn’t get bored.  I had written a letter to one of the Grandparents that we saw at our visit in January and I was able to meet her in person while we were there.  Betty wasn’t feeling well so I couldn’t talk to her very long, but it was nice to be able to meet her.  We also saw the MAHOVA King and Queen again.  We walked through the halls and at the cozy corner met up with the woman that we saw from our last visit and she is over 100 years old.  She escorted us to the dining room where we had lunch and talked to the residents while we were there.  Lunch was pretty good.  After our visit with the MAHOVA residents we headed over to the state Ritual Competitions at the Scottish Rite Temple in Richmond.
