Life in Quarantine

Posted in Blog on June 13th, 2020 by Christi Reed
How quarantine has been for me

On March 13, we received the news that school was now to be closed and we have to stay at home for the safety of ourselves and others. The citizens of Virginia have been under quarantine for over two months now and it has been very different for me. For starters, it has been very difficult getting used to learning and doing school work from home. It has made me miss all of my teachers and miss working in the classroom and engaging with other students. I also found it more difficult to study and prepare for my AP exams because I cannot have one on one together questions with my teachers. I really miss getting up every morning and going into school!

Things have also been different concerning Rainbow . For our safety, we are not allowed to hold meetings or other events that will cause us to have to come in contact with one another. I really do miss seeing all of my Rainbow  family! However, we have been able to host zoom meetings so we can still meet with our assemblies as well as attend other assembly meetings! So far, I have been able to attend almost all other assemblies across Virginia! It is so nice to see everyone and see how they have been coping with quarantine.

In order to get through quarantine, I have been doing many puzzles as well as getting outside and exercising. I try to go out as much as I can so I don’t have to stay inside my house all day! Overall, quarantine has been  something new to get used to but it is helping keep everyone safe and make sure that we continue to stay healthy.

Spirit Month

Posted in Blog on June 13th, 2020 by Christi Reed
In the month of April, I made a spirit week and it lasted for the whole month. The first week was colors of the rainbow. The second week was Mamma Mia based all around Norfolk’s current term. The third week was based on Gigi’s term and the Wizard of Oz. It was very fun and a lot of people participated in it. I appreciate everyone who participated.

Road Trip to Huntsville, Alabama

Posted in Blog on June 12th, 2020 by Christi Reed

Road Trip to Huntsville, Alabama.

Sit right back and listen to my tale,

My Rainbow tale of a weekend adventure.

A road trip to Alabama with ten girls

And three adults to visit an assembly in Huntsville.

We left on March 6 at 6:30 pm.

Twelve traveled to Staunton to pick up a girl.

All through the night we drove south,

With our first stop, breakfast at a Waffle House.

Arriving at the lodge at 9:30 am,

It is the first and oldest lodge in Alabama.

Warmly greeted and shown around.

We sit together in the beautiful assembly room.

The ritual opening completed

Zoey introduced as Grand Editor and Representative.

Batu, M’Balu and Zoe as Grand Reps

Along with our own Grand Flag Bear, Lillian.

Not to be left out as visiting Rainbow,

Our Audrey, Dionna, Ella, Hannah and JoElla

Were all introduced and given a sister welcome.

Business completed finally to lunch.

After a lunch with our new sisters,

Off to the Space and Rocket Center we went.

There we meet an old friend,

Who has two Rainbow age girls and a son.

We embraced our new friends,

Had a great time as we explored the center.

Such fun and love did we show.

That now one wants to be a Rainbow Sister!

A few did some rock climbing.

While others rode in a rocket simulator.

We walked a model space station,

Coming upon Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger’s picture.

Finally, to the hotel, we went.

Meeting family and friends to have dinner.

All the restaurants were busy,

At last found one, we just had to eat in shifts.

Back to the hotel and a swim.

Finding our beds, relaxing and falling asleep

Up early and in the van

We made it home that Sunday evening.

The success of the weekend

Is noted in the laughter, smiles and

The cries “When is the next trip?”

As the adults go….”Rest, I need Rest.”

6/2/20- Manassas’s social meeting- I went Manassas’s meeting and it was good. We talked about where  we want to be in 5 years. We also talked about our pets and our school trips we were supposed to go to. Dad Clancy and Mom Schneider were the host for the social. We talked about my graduation announcements and said “ I will send them out to you all”.
