Masonic Dinner Service

Posted in Blog on July 18th, 2019 by Christi Reed

On June 13, Kayla D., Kaitlyn R., Phoenix A., and Sarah R. went to serve dinner at Lake Drummond Lodge. For dinner, we served fried chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and rolls. For dessert, we served ice cream and cookies. We were invited to support Junior Warden’s Night. We had a great time supporting our Masonic family and will continue to work with them.

CJ’s Freedom Ride

Posted in Blog on July 17th, 2019 by Christi Reed

Please help Deputy Bobby Isleib, Loudoun County Sheriff Office and a Mason from Freedom Lodge #118 in Lovettsville, Virginia, as he helps to raise money for the Scottish Rite Speech and Hearing Programs.  These programs offer children with speech challenges a way to be heard and understood with services free of charge to their families.

CJ’s Freedom Ride to End Speech Disabilities is a motorcycle ride that is 1,000 miles in 24 hours.  It is commonly referred to as an “Iron Butt.”  CJ was a very special young man who passed away in 2016.  He had several disabilities including a speech disability.  He struggled all his life to be heard and understood.

Please sponsor this ride either with donations by the mile or for the overall trip.  The ride will take place the week of August 12th and will cover four states.  You can visit www.cjsfreedomride.com for more information.

Quantico-Freedom Reopening

Quantico-Freedom Reopening

Kayla D., Sarah R., Kaitlyn R. And Phoenix A. all attended Quantico-Freedom’s reopening from Norfolk Assembly. We had a fun time on the ride up to Quantico, stopping at the new love sign at the rest stop and even getting something to eat at Wendy’s. When we got there, we learned the lodge was on a military base which made it more adventurous and fun. We got to see a lot of cool local shops with all sorts of beautiful signs and decor. We did an Initiation before the Installation of Officers. The Grand Officers performed the Initiation for 2 new girls. For the Installation, which took place not long after the Initiation, Zoey W. was installed as Worthy Advisor and a lot of new members were given their new positions. On the ride back home, we had just as much fun on the way up by telling funny jokes and stopping by Starbucks on the way. We all had so much fun!!

Grand Assembly 2019

Grand Assembly 2019

From June 28th-30th, 2019, I attended our Grand Session; “Uniquely Beautiful, Uniquely You.” Half of my Assembly drove down the night before, but the rest of Quantico-Freedom Assembly arrived with plenty of time to spare in the morning, and I got to see my correspondent from Indiana, Sierra, at lunch.  After many practices, we were on our way to the first session. It was fun to introduce myself as a Grand Representative for the second year in a row, and we got to see Zoey as Grand Confidential Observer. I really loved how every Grand Officer wore a different dress, because each dress reflected the person wearing it. After dinner that night, I attended the Grand Representative T-shirt competition. M’Balu from our assembly won first place! The next day, we were up early for breakfast to bond as an Assembly. After the first session, I went to the Grand Officer and Grand Representative Luncheon with Zoey, M’Balu, JoElla, and Batu. After that, we went to the closing session. Before the Banquet, we opened letters from Richmond Assembly and talked about future plans as an Assembly. During the Banquet, I received a Grand Representative position for the third year. That night, most of us skipped the dance and talked in one of our rooms.

On Sunday, we attended the devotional and got installed as a Grand Representative. It’s really cool that I am one of the oldest Grand Representatives and that I can help the younger girls. I am excited for what this Grand Year brings, and I hope that Quantico-Freedom Assembly can be stronger than ever!
