On March 11th, Norfolk Assembly initiated Sarah. Our Assembly had three girls protem. Katie did Fidelity and Confidential Observer, Vanessa did Patriotism and I protemmed Service. We are so glad that Sarah finally joined!  I know she has been waiting her whole life and has always wanted to know what was in that pot of gold!  I am so glad that I was able to be there and help on her special day. I can’t wait to be a part of her Rainbow journey as she starts this new adventure!

Haymarket OES Installation

Posted in Blog on April 4th, 2018 by Webmaster

On March 3rd, we arrived at the Haymarket Lodge at about 2pm.  We were running late because we needed to change our clothes and fix our hair from our donut sales that morning since we were bundled up from the cold temperatures and the wind.  We were surprised when we got there because the Lodge had no electricity or heat so we kept our coats on to stay warm.  Despite the cold, no light or electricity the Installation was really nice.  Dad Michael Thornton played the guitar since they couldn’t play the digital piano.  Mary Alice Baird was installed as Worthy Matron for the year and her theme this year is the Rainbow Connection.  She talked about her time as a Rainbow Girl and she had Gigi sing the song The Rainbow Connection as a solo.  Gigi had to sing it without the piano and she did a good job.  We stayed for the reception afterwards and we sold boxes of Krispy Kreme donuts to those in attendance.

On March 3rd, we arrived at the Warrenton Giant at 8:45am and got our table set up on that cold windy day.  Mom Nancy delivered our 45 dozen donuts to sell around 9:15am.  We brought lawn chairs, hats, gloves, and blankets so we could stay warm.  Our location had JoElla, Mom Louisa, Mom Ange and me.  We were able to sell all of our donuts and get an additional $115 in donations by 12:15pm.  We had a successful donut sale that day.  JoElla was even able to get a $25 gift card from that Giant location for our Mystery Dinner Silent Auction.  In addition to the location I was at the Assembly also had 4 more donut sale locations.  The Ashburn Giant location had Vanessa, Emma, Ella, Leela, and Mom Erin; the Manassas Giant location had Zoey, M’Balu, Batu, and Mom Jean; a Credit Union in Manassas had Gigi, Dalanie, and Mom Priscilla; and the Pet Value in Manassas had Katie, Sami, Cassidy, and Mom Vanessa.    Once the donut sale was done we had a quick lunch and changed so we could get to the Haymarket OES installation.

We arrived at the Lodge at 5:30pm and we got the dining room set up and unloaded Mom Belinda’s car with all the food.  One of the containers spilled in the back of her car and it looked bad but smelled good!  We started serving dinner after the prayer at 6:30pm.  For dinner we had Butter chicken and tofu, rice, salad, dessert, coffee, lemonade and iced tea.  The Rainbow Girls that served dinner were Gigi, Dalanie, JoElla, Akshita, Lilli and me.  We all helped to clean up and we were done early and were able to go home by 8pm.
