Supporting our Demolay Brothers

On Friday November 22 some Rainbow Girls from Hampton, Fairfax, and I went to Occoquan Chapter Order of Demolay Installation of Officers. It was the first Demolay Installation I had ever been to and I was very impressed. They held it in the George Washington Masonic Memorial which was gorgeous, the lodge room was huge with two floors. Most of the visiting members sat in the nose bleed section but some of the others girls and I got front row seats! The installing team did a fantastic job with their ritual work. My favorite part of their ritual is that they explain a little bit about what Demolay is before they install the officers. Brother Alex Hite was installed as Master Counselor. It was very cool to see our brother organization in action. I am looking forward to my next visit to a Demolay event.

Fun at the MCHQWA Ball

MCHQWA Ball

After the Grand Visitation, we went to the Ball.  The Ball was really fun.  We had snacks and drinks.  They were good.  We danced to some funky music.  We all were in our formals.  Sydney was escorted by Selena.  After everybody was escorted that needed to be, we went to Denny’s and got milkshakes.  Then we went to Sydney’s house for a sleepover.  We had an amazing weekend and I think we’ll do it again.

The Grand Celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Virginia Grand Assembly

The 20th Anniversary of Virginia Grand Assembly

The 20th Anniversary of Virginia Grand Assembly was….pretty grand! The night’s festivities included a slideshow, food, a raffle, performances, and amazing speeches. The Daughters of the Nile provided delicious food, and anyone who went could tell you how amazing the performances were. I, for one, had no idea we had so much talent in our Rainbow family! I was surprised and excited when a very brave pledge sister opened the night’s festivities with a beautiful piano performance. The last act of the night really blew everyone away. A bunch of Rainbow Girls took the time to find the dresses of the last 20 years and have a talent show. I had the privilege of sitting next to Mrs. Abigale Costis who had tears of joy in her eyes as she watched the girls walking across the stage. After the talent show we had a raffle which was really cool, except for the fact that I lost to Mom Dunn! The prizes were cupcakes and small trinkets any Rainbow Girl could find a use for. The night came to a close after some heartwarming speeches. Overall it was a pretty great night with my Rainbow family. I love you all.
