Lunches for the Homeless

On August 25th, Hampton went to our monthly service project in Phoebus. We work with the local church to make lunches and give them out, along with clothes, to the homeless people in our area. We had a big turnout this month! Our girls Bella, Eva, Thora, Kensley, Sara, Reagan, and I all showed up. We mixed peanut butter and jelly to spread on 70+ sandwiches and made 70+ bologna and cheese sandwiches, too. We packed snacks in brown paper bags and raced to see who could stuff bags the quickest. Afterward we helped load them into the van and headed to our location to pass them out. Many people come out to get our lunches and are always so grateful to us. It’s an amazing feeling to help people in our community, and I’m so glad I get to share these experiences with my Rainbow sisters.

Adopt – A – Spot

Hi! Thank you all for participating in the adopt-a-spot clean up on August 26th from 1:15 to 2:00. Since there was a good turnout, we finished in 45 minutes! The girls who went were Kate, Zoey, Allison, Eliza, Sami, Katie and M’Balu (blue)(me!). The adults that were there were Mom Jean, Mom Joanne, Mom Amy and Dad Bill. I would like to thank everyone who showed up and contributed! I also want to thank Mom Amy and Mom Joanne for buying us Slurpee’s after the hard day’s work!  It was greatly appreciated!  I also want to thank Dad Bill for bringing the equipment.  The next date will be on October 14th.

Norfolk’s Adopt-a-Park

Posted in Blog on August 1st, 2018 by Christi Reed

On July 23, after our amazing breakfast we served, we decided to go to our adopt a spot and clean up. Kayla, Adam, Kaitlyn, Jordan, Sarah and I were there. We were split into two teams, Sarah, Adam, and Jordan were on one team. Kaitlyn, Kayla and I, were on the other team. We competed to see who get the most trash picked up from the park, to win a prize of Starbucks. My team won!

Manassas Adopt-a-Spot

Posted in Blog on July 25th, 2018 by Christi Reed

The adopt a spot was on June 16th.  The girls met up at the lodge around 11 am.  We had extra girls come, so we divided into two groups.  Some cleaned the road and others cleaned the lodge kitchen.  Those who heading to the road were: Sami, Aaliyah, Zoey, Batu, M’Balu and myself.  The adults were: my Nana and Dad Clancy.  It was really hot out and I don’t do that well in the heat!  Luckily, there wasn’t a lot of trash.  Sami and I along with my Nana went to the far side of the road.  Even though there wasn’t a lot of trash, we found, I guess you can say, “cool things”, like a pair of cutting wire tool.  We all made it to the end of the road at the same time.  We came together to take a picture under our sign.  We then headed back to the lodge, where the girls helped finished cleaning up the kitchen.  It was a nice day and a great way to spend time together with my Rainbow Sisters.
