Pancake Breakfast

On the first Saturday in June, the Fredericksburg Rainbow girls served breakfast to the Masons at our local Lodge #4. A Mason cooked the pancakes and the Rainbow girls took orders and served the pancakes to the Masons. We asked for a donation of 5 dollars per person, and they got as much as they could eat with pancakes, sausage, fruit, and beverages. Once we were done serving and cleaning up, Dad Graff took some girls down the street to the antique car show, Ilana and Campbell REALLY enjoyed that as they are very into cars! They especially loved the gas smell, which I was not a fan of. Christine and the twins Rachel and Micaela went down the street to the Irish Brigade store, Christine was really interested because she is part Irish and wants to visit Ireland one day. The girls had fun serving their first pancake breakfast, and we will definitely be participating in this project again!

Mothers Day

Posted in Blog on June 1st, 2012 by admin

On May 8, 2012, the members of Smithfield Assembly No. 5 celebrated Mother’s Day by honoring our mothers.  During roll call, each girl stood up and answered the question, “What is your favorite thing about your mother?”

Everyone had wonderful answers and Vicki made everyone cry with her tribute to her mother.  Our Worthy Advisor read the following poem to about mothers.

M is for the million things she gave to me

O means only that she’s growing old

T is for the tears she shed to save me

H is for her heart of purest gold

E is for her eyes with love light shining

R means right and right she’ll always be

Put them all together that spells mother. A word that means the world to me.

New Jersey Rainbow

Posted in Blog on May 27th, 2012 by admin

On Saturday, May 19, 2012, Michelle, her mom “Mom Baise” and I went on a Rainbow road trip to the garden state otherwise known as New Jersey. At first I was skeptic about going, I mean come on… New Jersey is a LONG way away from my home in Virginia. We had a 7 hour road trip ahead of us. So we started off and 1000 toll booths later were almost there.  Along the way we passed a farm and we saw a horse without its lead rope attached to anything and Michelle says ” Oh my gosh it doesn’t have its leash attached.  I was ready to bust out laughing. So later when we were almost there she kept going on and on about that horse so I finally told her “Michelle, it’s not a leash it’s a lead rope” and she was like “WHAT!!!” We finally got to New Jersey and I was like WWWAAOOH because almost EVERYTHING was different. The girls where all wearing white and near the end of introductions we felt like pogo sticks from getting up and down over and over again. But it was fun and I loved it!
