Quantico Regular Meeting – April 19, 2020

On Sunday, April 19th, I was able to attend the regular zoom meeting for Quantico-Freedom assembly.  Knowing that most events could not happen as planned this term for any assembly across the country due to shutdowns, Quantico decided to divide up into teams and create Goosechase challenges for its members and adult volunteers.  Each team would earn points for completing the challenges and the team winning the challenge would get the most points.  At the end of the challenges the team with the most points will win!  Zoe asked any guests if they would also like to participate.  Multiple Manassas Assembly members said yes, and I was one of them.  My mom and I are assigned to team Flora.  I can’t wait to find out what the challenges are!

Rainbow Sunday

Posted in Blog on June 8th, 2020 by Christi Reed

On Sunday, April 5th, my original plans for Rainbow Sunday could not happen so I celebrated in a different way.  First, I watched the Supreme Rainbow Sunday ceremony that was posted to the Supreme group on FaceBook.  This was so inspiring!  I especially liked the fact that two of my Manassas Rainbow sisters took part in it.  Kate and Alyssa both did a great job!  I am so happy they were asked to participate in a Supreme Rainbow event! Later that same day I went to the Quantico-Freedom Assembly’s ceremony over zoom.  This ceremony was also nice, and the message was very appropriate considering the current circumstances.  I got to stay on the zoom meeting and attended their regular meeting afterwards.

Supreme Webinar

Supreme Webinar – 5/23/2020

On Saturday, May 23rd, the GWAs from the west coast jurisdictions hosted a Supreme Webinar for all of Rainbow.  They divided everyone into regions and assigned a color for each region to wear for the webinar.  Our region was assigned indigo.   The webinar started with music playing until everyone could be admitted from the waiting room and at one point there were 276 participants!

Then there was an introduction from the west coast GWAs and told everyone that the jurisdictions would each have their own activity.  The jurisdiction of Oregon had everyone vote their way through a do your own adventure story.  Washington/Idaho jurisdiction did a craft with a pull origami card/envelope.  California jurisdiction created a scavenger hunt for the following items:  something holding a Rainbow memory; something Disney; school spirit; something representing a hobby of yours; the speed round to get a writing utensil, paper, and scissors.  With the speed round items we created heart beats to send a message to someone of our choosing.  Finally, Nevada jurisdiction taught everyone the Rainbow chant.  Our own Alyssa K. commented that we use it at our Rainbow retreat in Virginia.

Once all the jurisdictions completed their activities, we were able to hear from Celine the GWA from Ohio who was also selected to be the acting Supreme Worthy Advisor for Supreme 2020.  She apologized for not being able to attend the entire webinar, but she had a perfectly good excuse because it was also her birthday and they were finally open enough in Ohio that she could go out to dinner with her family.

After Celine was done, we were able to hear from Joanie Jacka the Supreme Worthy Advisor.  She had encouraging words for everyone and was so happy to see so many international participants from Brazil and Bolivia that were able to join us.

The Supreme Webinar closed after hearing final words from each of the west coast GWAs.  Before leaving they took pictures of everyone dressed in their assigned regional color and it took time because we were divided onto 11 screens during the zoom meeting.  It was fun seeing so many people and so many types of Mickey ears!

Ashburn/Quantico-Freedom/Springfield GV – 2/29/2020

On Saturday, February 29th, I went to the Ashburn/Quantico-Freedom/Springfield GV.  It was nice to be able to see so many people from Quantico Assembly!  I miss them sooo much.  There were several announcements about Supreme Assembly.  We found out that Vanessa H. will be carrying the Virginia flag, we also found out that Gigi will be the acting Supreme Service, there are also two other members from Virginia that will be participating in Supreme for singing and the Sunday devotional if Mom J can confirm that they will be going.  The skit was fun to watch and M’Balu even scared Gigi to the point that she jumped.  The refreshments afterwards were good and when it was over I headed home after a long day that started with robotics early in the morning.
