Our Installatin was on January 14, 2012. Lauren went in as Worthy Advisor for this term. Her mascot is the owl. The theme for this term is ”Unmask your inner beauty” and the motto is “When all else fails, just remember: Smile, be beautiful, but most importantly, be yourself!” Everybody did a great job! Everybody had a good time at the reception that fallowed. Fredericksburg Assembly stole Lauren’s mascot and made the whole Assembly dance to “Jump on it.” It was really funny! Grand Lodge Wreath Laying Ceremony

Posted in News on December 1st, 2011 by Webmaster

On September 24, 2011, Smithfield Assembly No. 5 visited Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  The Grand Lodge of Virginia performed a wreath laying ceremony.  We watched the changing of the guards.  It was very cool to see how the soldiers have to walk.  Afterwards, we went to the museum and walked around the cemetery to see some of the famous graves.   Thank you to our military service men and women who have given their lives on the fields of battle.

Haunted Temple Day 2

Posted in News on December 1st, 2011 by Webmaster

The second day of the haunted temple, we were assigned rooms to work and we still painted faces.  We were all assigned to the bridal room.    We were very busy and had tons of fun scaring people.  Each of the rooms were decorated with skeletons, caskets, and scary creatures that sang and make scary noises.  We were able to turn off the skeletons when we didn’t have customers coming through, they were singing the same song over and over again.

Overall, we all had a really great time.  All of the actors did a great job.  We cannot wait till next year! We not only showed that all 3 youth groups could work together for one united cause but we could have fun doing it, teach people about our Masonic Youth groups and make some money at the same time.

Haunted Temple Day 1

Posted in News on December 1st, 2011 by Webmaster

Halloween weekend, October 29th and 30th 2011, Smithfield Assembly No. 5 along with DeMolay from Kempsville and Norfolk Chapter and the Jobies from several area Bethels gathered at Norfolk Masonic Temple on Granby Street for a haunted fundraiser. We had been meeting for months and planning the scary event.

The first day of the haunted temple was so much fun. Our Assembly was assigned to do the face painting. Abbey, Lindsey, Kendra and I dressed up as zombie ballerinas. Michelle was a lady bug, Lauren was a vampire, along with her prospect Lilian. Nellie was a leprechaun and her prospect Sydney (who is now a Rainbow Girl) were vampires. We didn’t have many face painting customers the first night, although Michelle did paint several small children’s faces. Instead, many of us walked through the haunted temple many, many times! The first time I went through I was scared, so I plugged my ears, closed my eyes and held on to Michelle’s arm so hard! What I didn’t realize was that Michelle had her eyes closed too! It was so much fun! It was really scary too.

Spaghetti Dinner

Posted in News on February 24th, 2011 by Webmaster

One of the most memorable Rainbow events I have been to was the spaghetti dinner held by Tidewater DeMolay.  When we first walked into the room (Kayla, Kendra and I) it was decorated so beautifully.  It looked like a real restaurant!  First, they served us our drinks, then our salads.  Then they served us our spaghetti.  It was amazing spaghetti.  My favorite part though was the huge dessert bar.  We all ate brownies, mini cupcakes and cookies.  They also had entertainment.  We went to the lodge room and listened to singing.  It was very good.  Later on our GWA, Michelle showed up.  She challenged me to a pepper eating contest.  We both took red peppers and took a big bite out of them!  It was so funny because Kayla came over and told Michelle that she smelled.  Michelle said, “like what?”  “Like … peppers!” Kayla said.   We were laughing so hard!  It was such a fun night and definitely something I will never forget.

Team Smithfield

Welcome Home

Smithfield made Assembly Jerseys! On the shirt you wrote your nickname and put the number 5 (Smithfield Assembly#5) & either, “S-field” or, “IORG.” I learned that you should plan out what you are going to do before starting. I messed up on my first try, but thanks to Michelle we fixed it. Making the shirt was kinda hard but it was also fun to do. Now we have cool shirts to wear to show some Smithfield Assembly spirit. We also welcomed home one of our Rainbow sisters, Vicki, who was visiting her father. The meeting was super fun.

Bethel 42 Installation
On July 2, 2010, several members of Smithfield Assembly No. 5 attended the Bethel 42, Job’s Daughters Installation at Kempsville Masonic Lodge, Virginia Beach. The Installation was great. They all did a great job. The reception was fun. We ate a lot of yummy food. After the reception they had a dance. The dance was so much fun. We danced and we sang. When the slow songs came on everyone was dancing with each other. When no one was dancing with me, Victoria and Michelle started slow dancing with me. Then a Jobie came over to us and asked if she could dance with us so we said yes. Then Michelle said this was “Jobie Love.”  Several of the girls made us feel very welcome.  It was a lot of fun!
