Promoting Rainbow – Back to School Night!

On Thursday, September 27, M’Balu, Batu and I went to the Back-to-School Night at Covington-Harper Elementary School, in Dumfries, VA.  We each wore different styles of Rainbow attire, I wore a formal, Batu wore a short dress, while M’Balu wore Rainbow casual.  One of the girls, who is eight, came up to me and asked about my dress.  She then kept telling her dad that she likes dresses.  Another girl was there with her Grandmother.  Her Grandmother was interested in Rainbow and kept saying that her Granddaughter turned ten on September 30th.  She provided her contact information so we could talk to them about some of our upcoming fun events in October.

We handed out the Rainbow pamphlets, a sheet with all of our fun-events for October and for our Charity event on November the 3rd.  We talked to 9-10 parents and handed out seven applications for membership.  We also had fun talking about Rainbow and meeting new people!

Tour of Fort Monroe

Posted in Blog on September 25th, 2018 by Christi Reed

On August 6th, Hampton Assembly attended a youth function put on by the Knights Templar. They threw a pizza party for the youth groups and there was an amazing turnout! So many people from Job’s Daughters, DeMolay, and Rainbow showed up. There were even multiple people from different assemblies, chapters and bethels. I was absolutely amazed by the support from our Masonic youth groups and it was wonderful to hang out with so many of my friends all together. After lunch we went to the Casemate Museum for a tour. Our large group split up into smaller groups and went together to each stop. The tour guides showed us many interesting artifacts and knew lots of history about Fort Monroe. We even got to go inside the church and meet a woman who had ancestral ties to the building. It was very fun to get together and tour the historical heritage that is right in our backyard!

Cornhole Tournament

Posted in Blog on June 27th, 2018 by Webmaster

On May 20, Prince William DeMolay Chapter invited Manassas Assembly to their cornhole tournament. Sami, Vanessa, Joella, Ella, Leela, and myself were there, as well as a lot of DeMolay boys. We picked our partners and picked a number to decide which teams played each other. Mom Erin was my partner. We definitely underestimated ourselves! We won the first game and then the second and just kept winning! We actually made it to the final round! In the finals it was double elimination so we had to win by 2 games. We won the first game of the finals and then we lost the second. We came back and took the win in the third game. Turns out we were better at cornhole than we thought! Not to brag, but I had a pretty awesome partner!! We got to sign a cool trophy! There was also a food competition. Moms Joanne and Erin won trophies for the food competition, too! I also got a little tan from being in the sun for a couple hours and who doesn’t love tanning!

DeMolay Dodgeball

Posted in Blog on June 25th, 2018 by Webmaster

It was an honor to participate in the DeMolay Dodgeball for Dyslexia competition in Pennsylvania on my birthday. We got up early in the morning and headed to Ashburn to meet up with the DeMolay boys and then drove to Pennsylvania. Along the way, we stopped for a tasty lunch filled with lunch meat sandwiches. There were two other Rainbow Girls with me on this trip, Emma and Sara, and two Rainbow Pledges, Leela and Ella.

My team, the Hedgehogs, lost on the first round but we definitely put up good fight! The two teams that made it to the finals were from Virginia, which was a huge win for us. The final two teams fought head to head and had a very entertaining competition.

After dodgeball was finished, we headed to eat dinner and then to Hershey Park! At dinner, all of the DeMolays sang happy birthday to me and it was so sweet. I am so lucky that I got to spend my birthday with such wonderful people and some of my Masonic family.
